Why doesn't my wind sheild wipers turn off but all other option on switch work?

There is a circuit inside of the wiper motor which activates a part called a derailer. When the wiper switch is turned to off, the contact points on the derailer cause the internal parts of the wiper motor to jump to a position inside the wiper motor which breaks the physical contact of the connection that allows the motor to spin. On its last cycle, the wiper blades go to their park position and the motor shuts down.

Its possible that the points are dirty or the ground is bad. Sometimes unbolting the mounting screws and retightening will re-establish the ground, especially if one has a wire showing.

Jaguar xk8 problems

loosen the nut at the bottom of the blades so that the wiper motor will work without moving the blades. cycle the wipers and allow the motor to come to the rest position. Fit the blades and tension the nut. Pull the arms off the windscreen and cycle the wiper motor to run until it stops put the wipers back on the screen and see where they are. IF parked properly then OK but if any where then replace the wiper motor as the sequencing gear inside is out of sync with the wiper action.

Went on a journey in heavy rain last week. Without warning the wipers stopped for a couple of seconds and then continued working fine. When I finished my journey and turned the wipers off, the wiper blades...

on most cars there is a parking circuit within the motor mechanism which returns the arms to the rest position after the inside wiper switch is turned off. so there is always some power going to the wiper motor. again on most cars the problem you describe is generally a defect in that circuit. however on some cars this circuit is in an external box attached to the wiper motor. so you need to find out if that circuit is contained within the SaaB wiper motor or is external. if there are any dealers left you could call one and ask at their service desk. if it is internal then you are going to need a new wiper motor.

1988 VW GTI 16 valve. How to fix and replace windshield wiper arm(not just blade). It rotates beyond wind shield.

Remove the wiper arm. Switch on the wipers for a 15 seconds or so then switch them off and allow the wiper motor to reach the "Park" position. Re-fit the wiper arm/blade so the blade sits an inch or 2 from the lower edge of the windscreen. Pour some water on the screen or use the screenwashers and try the wipers to see if they still travel beyond the edge of the screen. Small adjustments can be made by lowering the arm towards the bottom edge of the screen by a couple of splines on the shaft. If it still travels beyond the edge of the screen then you may need a replacement linkage as it could be worn. You may be able to buy the linkage only and use your existing motor-I know this is possible with the Sharan but not sure on your model/year.

My drivers side windscreen blade, judders and drags up the screen, leaving lines of water. I have tried different blades, mazda screen wash, Rain X on the screen (which made it worse), Mazda said it was...

If the drivers side only dose it and not the pass side then dosent it spell that the wiper blad IS NOT THE CORRECT TYPE or the screen needs cleaning with Metho and cig ash and polish the screen with it and fit a set of blades to suite another car with the metal plate fitted outside to catch the the wind and hold on to screen,,,as alot of cars have the same lenth blade and the same fittings and the arms pivort could be worn. you wasted your money on the motor..

Saab 93 06 wiper problem

If you look at the wiring loom it comes out of the bulkhead just below the wiper motor, here you will find that there are worn wires due to the wiper arm rubbing, these will have effect in short circuiting the system, reset with vehicle electrician.

Wipers willnot return to park position

I've fixed this problem before. You have to disconnect the wiper transmission from the wiper motor. Put wipers in off position, unbolt the plate on top of wiper, turn wipers on then off. In the off position see where the wiper transmission is position in relation to where the park position is, remove the top plate from wiper motor and position it so as to be able to reconnect the wiper transmission now in the proper place. Please keep me informed. thanks you
