It helps draw out engine bypass fumes into the intake to be burnt by the engine, rather that released into the atmosphere.

59 reg Mondeo 2ltr petrol hesitates on light excelleration when engine is warm fine when choke is on , otherwise car runs fine any ideas ?

check all the breather pipes around the intake check for air leaks, failing that and there are no leaks take the air intake pipe off and check to see that its clean and you should see a pin hole in the butter valve on the top. if fine just give it a clean with some carb cleaner and get any black rings out and soot off it so it like new, put back together. failing that and still the same then it might be a air leak from the gasket to the engine you can check this with the carb cleaner run the engine and spray over the manifold and listen for the engine pitch to change or cut out if it cuts out it's definitely were the problem is, you can use this to find an air leak in pipes as well.

If you mean the breather is throwing out oil then you have a problem as this is caused by back pressure within the engine ,cause worn piston rings

What should the air intake breather look like on a 1996 chevy blazer

Hi there:

An air breather replaces the intake vent hose on your crankcase, which vents the spent gases inside your head out into the atmosphere instead of back into your intake track. This keeps your engine clean and in top condition. Aside from that, air breathers also improve the appearance of your engine bay.

Installation of an air breather is a simple process that takes minutes. Simply remove the hose on your crankcase and replace it with this breather. Most breathers come with a clamp already included.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

I need to know how to remove the torque converter in the transmission of a 2005 Mercury Mariner

The torque convertor is the part between the engine and the transmission. It is bolted to the "flex plate", or flywheel. You have to remove the engine or the transmission to gain access to it.

Remove or disconnect the following:

Battery cables Battery and tray Breather tube Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor Intake tube and air cleaner cover Air cleaner assembly Transmission Range (TR) sensor Heated Oxygen (H0 2 S) sensors Transmission harness connector and bracket Wire harness bracket spacer and move the bracket aside Shift cable Shift cable bracket and move the bracket aside Starter electrical connectors Starter Electrical connectors from the valve cover and install an engine support bar Upper transmission retaining bolts Left side upper transmission mounting plate Rear transmission mount Right side engine mount bolt and slightly raise the engine Both front wheels and splash shields Right side halfshaft and intermediate shaft assembly after matchmarking them Cross brace Center exhaust pipe and rubber hanger Front exhaust pipe and flange Rear exhaust pipe flange Driveshaft PTU vent tube Lower transmission bracket Access cover Flexplate nuts Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) sensor Fluid cooler tube and move it aside Fluid cooler line and install a transmission jack Bolts from the PTU unit Transmission with the PTU unit attached

My audi has a oil leak of some sort which is leaking into the air filter unit and has soaked my air filter, the oil leak is coming form aline that runs along the top and side if the air intake unit. why...

follow the line backwards down to the block and clean the breather(if fitted) this is not an oil leak, the pipe is there to **** up the engine pressure when decelerating.........the air filter should be changed every 20 thousand miles/2 years.....

something not right here and without my greasy oily hands on it its difficult to say ,could be worn piston rings ,engine breather too much oil ,or a secondhand turbo thats worse than the one you took off ,check the engine breather first and the filter in it isnt blocked or missing

2003 Audi A4 runs rough at idle

Check for vacuum leaks on intake hoses/ manifold. Check for broken crank case breather pipe near joint with intake pipe. If the cylinder head has been worked on, check fault memory of engine control unit. If it picks up a fault [camshaft- crankshaft incorrect correlation] then the cam-chain timing will have been set incorrectly.
