My car will not stay running, it is very rough, then quits

When I start my 1992 plymouth acclaim, (6 cyl) it runs very rough and you must keep throttle on full or it quits.

Do you know how to retrieve fault codes by cycling key, on, off, on,off, on, and leave in on position & count flashes from check engine light. 2 flashes , pause, 2 more flashes, is code 22. 3 flashes, pause 3 more, is code 33 etc.... Get back to us with those codes if any. By the way code 55 means end of message.

We have a 91 Plymouth Acclaim 6 cyl. The car runs well when at speed but it randomly stalls out at idle. It will also stall randomly when slowing down to stop in traffic. Any ideas what it might be?

Remove the A.I.S motor and give it a good cleaning (especially the pintle -pointed end ) with throttle body spray cleaner, as well as the port you remove it from, then re-install and try it. That will usually cure it, and if it starts to happen again, replace the A.I.S. motor. Doesn't hurt to give throttle plate and area a spray while your at it.fd70c70.gif

Car turns over the car does nothing but backfire and putt and then nothing happens , it just keeps turning over! HELP

Can you give me more info such as, Happened suddenly and was running good prior, or has been running rough for quite a while. Is check/service engine light on? Any previous history would be good, as well as what engine you have in it, as well as mileage. Then I can better advise you. Thanks.

Where do I find the freeze plug on my 90 plymouth acclaim 6 cyl?

There are mutiple freeze plugs. There are some in the sides of your engine block as well as the rear of the block. Locations depend on what motor you have.

Make sure the coolant is full, then change the coolant sensor near the thermostat housing. This will put the car into advanced timing mode again. Do not over torque the sensor. 14ft.lbs or less as needed to stop seapage. Good luck!

Plymouth acclaim ignition repair

the ignition cylinder will run you about 20$ and it is fairly easy to change you can change it yourself buy the chilton book (it will help later) and it will be cheaper than paying for labor although the entire replacement will take less than 30 min
