How to remove tailgate struts?

If you mean standard tailgate supports, no electric / pneumatic or power ones. Then you just lower the tailgate and bend the "v" hinges upwards until they come off, or cables on newer trucks, and lift gate to a 45 degree angle and they pull right off. If you mean industrial style heavy duty stuff, re post this question and I'll send you a wide variety of schematics. I have info from everything from right hand drive 3 cylinder pick ups, up to big rigs and even some VERY heavy equipment. Hope I helped. Grimm

The rear latch does not open easy and doesn;t stay up. Whats wrong?

There should be two hydraulic struts - one on either side of the hatch/tailgate. If these struts have failed, the hatch/talgate will not stay open. Also, since these struts are compressed when the hatch/tailgate is closed, they provide positive lifting pressure when you unlock the hatch, pushing it away slightly from the latching mechanism. Replace the struts, and you should be all set.

I am replacing the tailgate strut that failed and can't get the trim cover off to snap out the bottom of the strut.

In the lift gate inside trim panel you will see a plastic cap plug at the door latch area. Remove the plug to gain access to the latch. You will see the plastic plug cap at the bottom of the inside lift gate trim panel. ----------- Click this link below for more details:--- http://technoanswers.blogspot.com/2011/07/how-to-remove-tailgate-strut-on.html --------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

How to replace liftgate support rod fro 2005 jeep grande cherokee

Hi ... You need two people, two new gas struts a small screw driver and a thirteen mill open end spanner.....
Change one at a time with the second person supporting the tailgate, dependant on what type is fitted the struts will have a metal "c" clip that needs to be removed at both ends on the ball joint sockets, prise the clips out and remove the strut, and replace in reverse order.... if you have the struts with the ball and sockets at each end you need to support the tailgate with your by now long suffering partnre and undo the nut and socket in the body and tailgate.... they, once loosened will come out easily..... just make sure that when refitting you dont cross threads... repeat same on the other side and then give friend a cold beer..... hope this helps..... 1995 VW PASSAT back hatchback will not stay open. How to fix?

You'll need to buy replacement hatch struts and replace them. You can find these at auto parts stores, or by searching on the internet.

They come off by carefully twisting the body of the strut to the side until it comes loose (if they are the type that don't have a nut holding them in place). Do this on both ends, and I would suggest using a pair of pliers wrapped in an old T-shirt or duct tape that will keep from damaging them. Use the old ones for practice, and that way you won't damage the new ones when you put them in.

You can probably use a broomstick to hold the hatch open while you do this. Wrap the ends in duct tape to keep it in place (sounds crazy but it works LOL).

Trunk lift struts do not help open the trunk lid. There is no "lift"

The gas has leaked out of the struts. Auto Zone sells these as a set far less than any GM dealer does. I suggest you get a replacement there

Does ford e 150 van have struts

E150 have no struts, just shocks. One in each corner and can be replaced with common tools. Auto Zone or Parts Source carry the shocks you need and can give you the step by step instructions to replacing the shocks your self. Good luck
