I have a 2002 Explorer with 2 cigar lighters that do not work

My forward lighter socket stopped working on the center console. I'm sure I had a shorted charger, because when I plugged the bad charger into the socket on the back of the console that was still alive it also stopped working. The sockets are on separate circuits but I can not find a bad fuse. Are there other fuse locations besides the main block under the steering wheel?

Cigarette lighter not working, already change fuze for 2002 4door explore, what to check now?

use a test light on cigar lighter, put probe in center of socket and the ground on outside of cigar socket or any other good ground. if power to socket, this will tell you if the cigar socket is bad and needs replaced. if it has power and lighter does not work, then its the heating element itself thats bad, the part that heats up! good-day !

2002 cadillac, front cigar lighter stoped working, rear one works and i checked fuses and only found 1 marked cigar lighter and its fine. I took rear one out and put it in front and still nothing, put front...

If you are refering to the 40 Amp "CIGAR" fuse under the left rear seat, this is the "main" fuse for the lighters. There are 2 more in the engine compartment fuse block. They are marked "C/LTR 1" and C/LTR 2". They are both 20 Amp fuses.

The cigarette lighter in my Mazda 6 2003 has never worked since I've owned the car. I bought a new fuse and tried that, but it still doesn't work. You press the lighter in, and it doesn't even pop back out...

Which fuse did you install, and was it good or bad?Are both sockets dead? That car uses 2 fuses , each power outlet has its own fuse. R CIGAR and CIGAR, Fuses 10 and 13 Sometimes there is a fuse built into the cigar lighter socket, If the fuses are good, that fuse in the socket might be bad. If it is indeed bad, you will need a new socket. If you have a test light you can check for power at the center of the socket, if you do have power, then the ground plug may be off.

Cigar lighter not working?

Check cigarette lighter fuse first,
If it is ok,
Use a test light, ground the clip end and remove the lighter, and probe the lighter socket with the test light.probe the center brass contact and see if the test light lights. If it does replace the lighter button.Be careful not to touch the center brass contact with the sides of the lighter socket. This Will blow a fuse!

Cigarette lighter not working, already changed fuse

Look in your manual for the Power Distribution Box reference in Roadside Emergencies. It should be located under the hood on the driver's side. My 2002 Explorer has two power points on the center console and the 20A fuses in the Power Distribution Box for them are number 7 and number 9. They cost $3.99 each at AutoZone. The cigar lighter fuse under the dash is unrelated.
