Ok look under the bagtterry tray, there is a black box bolted to the body, it is the headlight ground and has a really bad tendency to corode due to the design.

SOURCE: repair a stuck DRL relay on a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire

you like hundreds of other sunfire owners have a damaged wire harness for the front headlights. these harnesses are all bad. before you check the harness you should check the fuse box in drivers side of dash. you will see a fuse for headlight left and right make sure they are both good. if the fuses check out then you will have to check the wire harness that comes up between the frame and the windshield washer bottle behind the drivers headlight, it pinches and corrodes till lights loose power you will need to fix this harness for the lights to work, if high beams are the problem then the orange or blue wires will be the problem.

SOURCE: 99 sunfire no drl and

it might the wiring harness. the wiring harness is a common problem for the sunfires. GM nows about this and put out a service bulletin but it is not a recall and is not covered under warranty.

sounds like a fuse or relay ,have you checked the fuse box drivers side lower dash for headlight fuse(s) also in engine bay there is another fuse box with relays ,list will be on the cover ,i'd start there as power is going to bulb on one circuit , other than that the switch may not be working fully

Hello and welcome to Fixya!

As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you remove the positive batter connector and let it sit for atleast 5mins. before reconnecting it. This will reset the system and can get your vehicle back to it's normal operation.

Please do keep me posted on the progress. I'll be glad to help you out. Hope this helps and thank you for using Fixya! Have a good one!

Passenger side high beam element burned out. DRL problem might be the emergency brake suppose to turn off when engaged. Slightly depressed will cause DRL not to work.

Where is the DRL Module on a 2003 Sunfire?

Fuse panel left side of dash. It's not a typical module it's only a relay. Your instrument cluster has a microprocessor which energizes the relay. In another post someone said there is a resistor behind right headlamp that could be your problem, I haven't as of yet checked the schematics to confirm but sounds right.
