Location of a transmission fill plug on a 2002 Neon SE

I have a 2002 Neon SE manual tranny and i need to know where the transmission fill plug is and what it looks like (photos). I was told its located on the left side of the transaxle next to where the left half-shaft goes in. We think we found it but unsure. I want to mak sure. Pleas explain better to me. I would greatly prefer photos of location of the fill plug and what it looks like. Photos say 1,000 words.

To make it even easier for you, drive to the transmission shop and ask the service advisor or tech and they can confirm with you and it will most likely cost you a thank you and a smile. They always want to leave a good impression,so when you need a repair done like a CV joint or a clutch replacement. You'll remember the for the help they gave you. You may want to tip them with a coffee or a box of donuts. Hope this helps. and good luck

Need to locate the manual transmission fill plug

There is none. Look for a bolt or screw on top of the transmission, take it out, this is the way for a manual tranny. Automatic tranny are the one with the oil stick.

I'm working on a 2002 Dodge Neon. The transmission cooler line has become disconnected from the radiator but looks to be fine including the adapter. I can push the line back into the hole in the...

I had the same problem with my 2002 Neon and the transmission fluid was mixing with the coolant. You cant fix it yourself...Either pull the radiator and take it to a rad shop or replace the rad as I did. If the coolant gets into the transmission you will also need a transmission flush. The fitting you are talking about has come loose from the transmission cooler tank inside the rad.Its a common problem with neons I got a new rad from NAPA and changed it myself, and it was a lot of work. Good luck. The manual also says to replace the flexible tranny lines.

I have a 5 speed and do not know were to fill the tranny

There is a plug in the side of the transmission, about an inch in diameter, and you unscrew that. It is both filler and level indicator.
Use 80W-90 hypoid gear lube.

How many ATF go to the aut. trasmission?

You need a scan tool to check the automatic transmission fluid on this car. The scan tool is needed to know the temperature of the fluid which must be close to 40 degrees celsius. At that point you remove the fill plug in the bottom of the transmision pan and fill with fluid until fluid drains back out. Use only genuine VW fluid part number G 052162A2 or you will damage the transmision. If you fill with fluid while tranny is to cool you will over fill and damage the transmission. If you fill with fluid when the tranny is to hot you will underfill and run a slight risk of damaging the transmission. The fill plug and drain plug are next to each other so make sure you are removing the right one. <<<< The above I found on a vw site, The tranny should take about 5 qts for a filter change, or 12 qts for a total rebuild. And the fill plugs on th eside of the tranny, one should be up, that is the filler, and lower one is the level, when it seeps out the lower one, it is full. Hope this helps.

How to fill manual transmission fluid on dodge neon 5 speed?

It will be on the side of the transmission just above the halfway point. The plug is usually black or green. You will need to dip your finger in to feel the level the fluid is at. It should be just below the lip of the plug.

Where the plug for tranny on 96' jetta is located?

On the manual transmission you go through the vehicle speed sensor (VSS). Its suppose to go 1/2 way up the teeth marks. Does it not say in the Chiltons manual? I can check when I get home.

Cannot locate the filler plug for the transmission. need to know where to add tranny fluid to

usually there is a dipstick for the tranny fluid. if you can find that you add the fluid through there with a funnel. other wise you will have to look on top of the tranny for a check plug.
