First you can do a quick test and disconnect the Negative Battery terminal from the battery and see if the car continues to run. If it dies, the alternator has no output. Once that is extablished heres how to remove: (be warned this is a lot of work and if you do it yourself you will save some money)

  1. Disconnect the neg battery cable
  2. rotate the engine forward --- Rotate the engine by attaching and using a ratchet type tie down strap to pull the engine forward after partially removing the brackets (brackets are located on the radiator core support) that secure the engine were it is.
  3. Drop the subframe (more room to work)
  4. you will also need to do the following: disconnect the power steering lines from the brackets, disconnect fuel connection, remove part of the wiper arm assemblies and the manifold cover.
  5. There are a few other things like bolts, belt etc that need to be removed
I did this on mine thats the only reason I know and it was a job but it beats paying a shop for some serious labor charges.
Take care and enjoy the project!

I hav a 2002 hyndai accent replaced battery and aternator worked fine for 1 day same problem all over is it another bad alternator nw battery also

What exactly is the problem? Is it not charging? Does the battery/alternator light stay on when engine is running? Poor connections can cause no charging, so check all battery, alternator, and starter connections. Make sure all are clean and tight. If still no help, have the alternator tested while on the car and running.

2002 pontiac montana wont start won't turn over

First thing I would check would be the battery. Open the hood and make sure the battery terminals are tightly connected to the battery (try to turn them on the post by hand). If they are tight and you have a volt-ohm-meter you can check the battery charge yourself. If not you can remove the battery and take it to an autoparts store and ask them to check it for you.

How do I replace the alternator?

I'm assuming you have the 3.0 DOHC which is pretty tight. I have attached the removal instructions for your viewing. The actual bracket that holds the alternator has to be removed also.11_11_2011_1_16_24_am.png11_11_2011_1_16_39_am.png

I have a 2002 montana idles fine after 2000 rpm starts to misfire and pop into intake and eventually the baterry light comes on. Checked voltage at idle is 14.2, after it starts to misfire voltage spikes...

I was going to say its a bad voltage regulator. but you put on a new alternator. so check the battery cables carefully to be sure there clean and tight., and also the wire from alternator to battery. and check all engine to body grounds. One is to clean/check all connections.
Your voltage regulator will have a smaller wire that hooks to the battery cable at some point, usually the starter relay (solenoid),
Make sure that connection is SECURE.

have a good day ! hope this steers you in the right way.

How do i remove the alternator from the ford escapes 2002

Hi there,

Disconnect the negative side of the battery. Then, remove the tire. Next, you must have to remove the halfshaft -you may want to remove it complete instead of broke the metal tag- This is the easy part. This is the difficult part: The next step is dettach the alternator. It has three bolts: one in the top, two in the bottom, after remove them, you must have to unplug it. It suppose to take off the car by the halfshaft space.
