Question about 1999 Volkswagen Passat

1 Answer

Steering wheel noise

The steering wheel makes a creaking sound whenever it is turned.. i took it a mechanic twice.. he said the problem s because of leak in the power steering system and air entering the system.
first he said that the steering pump hose has gone bad and i had to replace it. after he replaced it, and also naturally bled all air from the system.. i have driven this car for about 70 miles since,, and this problem again re-surfaces..

can someone help me out of what could be the possible problem for this...

Have someone turn the steering wheel will the car is running so you can look to see exactly where the noise is coming from. sounds like a dry steering component.

My 2011 Nissan Sentra makes a slight creaking noise whenever I back out of parking spaces by turning the steering wheel to the extreme right or left. Specifically, the noise comes after I start rolling...

is the creaking coming from the front or rear of the vehicle? if its in the front, it could be a bad strut. 2011? the vehicle should be under manuf. warranty. take it into the dealer and they should fix it for free and even put you in rental car if the vehicle has to stay for an extended period of time. make sure you are under 36,000 miles for the manuf. warranty to apply. good luck!

There's a chance that the ball joints need grease. This should help, however once they have started to make noise like that due to lack of grease, they usually have gone bad. Replacement may be the only remedy. Hope this helps.
