Question about 1998 Toyota Camry

2 Answers

I have a 98 Toyota Camry and the left rear seat belt isn't retracting, it just hangs out full. Do I need to replace the entire belt or can it be fixed? If it needs to be replaced, how can I do it myself. Thank you.

The belt will need to be replaced. never try to fix a seatbelt due to safety reasons. you can get complete belt from a salvage yard. just remove the bolt that secures it to the vehicle.
Be sure to tighten the new one down so it is good and tight.

My rear left seat belt is not retracting

the retractor spring needs to be replaced. i think a dealer is the only place you can get the part. if it is important, i would find a similar car in a junkyard and pay them to pull the whole belt out of that car and then you pay someone to install it into yours.

99 Toyota Camry one of the rear seat belts won't retract

You have to actually unbolt the belt holder behind the seat. Then from there you can check to see if the spring still works. You'll probably have to take the cap off it, wind the spring-load, then put the cap back on. If you can get to it, it's not too difficult. I recommend another pair of hands to help hold if they're available. You'll also want to make sure you've rolled the belt up as much as possible before before you coil the spring-load.
