2005 Chevrolet Equinox after starting it immediately shuts off

Sounds like a security system problem. Do this, turn the ignition switch to start but don't start the engine, then leave the switch in the run position, watch the theft light it will be on steady or flashing, wait for the light to change then turn the switch off then repeat up to 2 more times, it takes about 10 minutes per cycle don't try to hurry and if the car accidentally starts and quits start over. Occasionally the vehicle will start and run after the second try but don't count on it, I hope this helps, take care.

2003 cadillac cts turn key on and a message comes up that says starter disabled remove key what does this mean and how to repair , thanks

STARTING DISABLED REMOVE KEY
Refer to Theft Systems Description and Operation in Theft Deterrent

STARTING DISABLED REMOVE KEY
The radio illuminates the STARTING DISABLED REMOVE KEY message when the VTD system has disabled the starting system. The radio receives a message from the theft deterrent control module via the serial data circuit requesting illumination.

Your best bet have it towed to a qualified repair shop .
The vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) system functions are provided by the theft deterrent control module. When an ignition key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition is switched ON, the transponder embedded in the head of the key is energized by the exciter coils surrounding the ignition lock cylinder. The energized transponder transmits a signal that contains its unique value, which is received by the theft deterrent control module. The theft deterrent control module then compares this value to a value stored in memory, learned key code. If the value is correct the theft deterrent control module sends a random generated number to the transponder, this is called a challenge. Both the transponder and the theft deterrent control module perform a calculation on the challenge, if the calculations match the theft deterrent control module sends the fuel continue password via the serial data circuit to the Engine control module (ECM). If either the transponders unique value or the calculation to the challenge is incorrect the theft deterrent control module will send the fuel disable password to the ECM via the serial data circuit. The components of the VTD system are as follows:
• Theft deterrent control module
• Engine control module (ECM)
• Ignition key (Transponder)
• Ignition lock cylinder
• Security indicator

1998 chevy cavalier where is the BCM (body control module) located?

You have no idea what your messing with . Theft light on , DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored . Before you start replacing BCM an making matters worse ,do yourself a favor an take it to a qualified repair shop .
The powertrain control module (PCM) communicates with the instrument cluster using serial data over the UART serial data bus, CKT 800. When the instrument cluster determines a Pass Theft condition, the instrument cluster sends a coded password to the PCM. When the instrument cluster receives the correct password, the PCM enables the fuel injection system in order to allow the vehicle to operate normally. The PCM may allow the vehicle to start and stall quickly during a failed theft condition.

The Passlock™ lock cylinder is a locking cylinder that turns a rotating magnet past a stationary hall effect sensor. The rotating magnet creates a resistance code (R-Code) that the cylinder sends to the instrument cluster. The Passlock™ lock cylinder interfaces with the instrument cluster through a 3 wire connection. The 3 wires have the following functions:
• Power
• Ground
• Data
The THEFT SYSTEM indicator will not light under any circumstances.
Replace the instrument cluster.
For Chevrolet vehicles, refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
For Pontiac vehicles, refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
Multiple indicators light continuously.
Test for a loss of serial data. Refer to Data Link Communications System Check .

2007 Malibu error when turning key on no start

Your vehicle has a theft system installed. What has happened is the Computer has detected the wrong theft data from the ignition cylinder. Sometimes trying a different key will temporarily start the vehicle. The other option is try to start the car, when it sees the key failure, leave the key on for 10 minutes. Repeat the procedure 3 times for a total of 30 minutes. On the fourth attempt it should start. If those two options fail, you will have to take it to a repair shop the can dignose theft concerns.

06 trailblazer trouble with anti theft system, I think, starts right up then other times the anti theft light comes on and it won't start. can try it 2-4 hours later and it starts right up????

The first thing to do get it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Not at auto zone or any other parts store , you want to have full scan of all the modules on the car. Don't know how much you know about automotive electronics , computer controlled systems etc.... Your vehicle has at least 10 modules (computers ) on board , there all talk to each other on a serial data network . C.A.N - controller area network . Or in the case of GM it has it's own . GMLAN -
How to Diagnose Controller Area Network CAN When you turn that ignition switch to start it is an input to the computer ,be it the PCM or BCM ..

1999 oldsmobile cutlass computer will not communicate with car

When the motor was replaced , was the original PCM changed as well ? Did you have the anti-theft system programmed . Theft - system light on -DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are stored . Need a factory or professional scan tool read these codes . The other computers on the vehicle will communicate . BCM
Important: Due to component variability, the vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) system must have the learn procedure performed regardless, if the vehicle starts on the first ignition cycle after a VTD repair.
All codes in the theft deterrent module must be cleared for a relearn.
The vehicle theft deterrent system is designed in order to prevent vehicle theft by disabling the fuel injectors unless the lock cylinder is correctly engaged by a mechanical key. The theft deterrent system uses the following 4 components for theft prevention:
• The lock cylinder
• The ignition switch
• The body control module (BCM)
• The powertrain control module (PCM)
When starting the engine, the PCM searches for a password from the BCM through the Class 2 serial data circuit. If the password is not recognized or not present, the PCM will disable the engine. Two modes of tamper detection are provided:
• No password received
The engine will start and stall quickly. SECURITY telltale will flash on the instrument panel cluster (IPC) and then stay ON steady.
• Incorrect or disable password received (More than 3 invalid passwords are received)
The engine is disabled for at least 10 minutes and the SECURITY telltale will illuminate solid on the IPC during the 10 minutes.
After the vehicle has passed theft detection, the PCM will continue normal operation.

Anti-theft light on ( car an padlock symbol ) when trying to start the vehicle with the second set of key's ? Do you know how GM anti-theft system works ? There is a transponder in the head of the key . Around the key lock cylinder is a coil of wire ,when you stick the key into the lock cylinder ,this coil of wire energizes the transponder in the key head . A module the coil of wire is hooked to reads code of the tansponder . Everything is controlled by a module , BCM - body control module , PCM -engine computer , anti-theft module . You can research all you want ,you won't be able to trouble shoot without factory or professional type scan tool , service information , checking diagnostic trouble codes . Your buick has more computer power then the space shuttle has . Serial data communication networks . Your best bet , take it to the buick dealer .

Passlock™ Lock Cylinder
The Passlock™ lock cylinder is a locking cylinder that turns a rotating magnet past a stationary hall effect sensor. This action creates the Passlock™ cylinder data. The Passlock™ cylinder data is sent to the Body Control Module (BCM). The Passlock™ lock cylinder is interfaced with the BCM via a 3-wire connection:
• Power
• Ground
• Data

Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is located on the lower left side of the instrument panel.
The PCM communicates with the Body Control Module (BCM) via serial data over the class 2 serial data bus, CKT 1807. When the BCM determines a passed theft condition, the BCM sends a coded password to the PCM. When the PCM receives the correct password, the PCM enables the fuel injection system, allowing the vehicle to operate correctly. The PCM may allow the car to start and quickly stall during a failed theft condition.
The following conditions may cause the PCM to enter a tamper mode:
• A bad timing cycle
• An incorrect password
If the BCM does not receive a password within a preset time window, the BCM will enter a short tamper mode. During this mode, the PCM will not allow the car to operate for 4 seconds.
If the password is incorrect, the PCM will enter the long tamper mode. In the long tamper mode, the following actions will occur:
• The THEFT SYSTEM indicator will flash.
• The fuel injectors will be shut off for approximately 10 minutes.
Although the vehicle may start, the engine will quickly stall due to a fuel cut-off.
In the event of an open in the serial data communication between the BCM and the PCM, the following actions occur:
• The PCM will become fail-enabled if the car has already passed theft for that ignition cycle (i.e. the engine is running).
• The PCM may set the diagnostic trouble codes (DTC).
• The THEFT SYSTEM indicator will light continuously.
• The PCM will become fail-enabled for future ignition cycles.
If a failure occurs in serial data before the ignition cycle, while the PCM is not fail-enabled, the PCM will never receive a valid password in order to enable the continued use of the fuel injectors.

Your best bet , take to a qualified repair shop .
