The timing belt interval used to be 120k, but after numerous timing belt breaks and a class action lawsuit against VAG, Adui has changed the interval to 80k..However, i have seen them break even at 70k miles. Unless you see paperwork that it has been done, just plan on replacement before 70k. Better safe than sorry, if it breaks it costs thousands!

I just bought 2004 mitsubishi with 113,000 miles on it. owner said he hasn't done much if any maintenance on it. what should I have replaced on it?

REPLACE SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES, REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR. NEED CHANGE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER.YOU NEED CHANGE TIMING BELT HAS TO BE CHANGED EVERY 60000 MILES TIMING BELT CHANGING TIME OVER DUE.REPLACE WATER PUMP WHEN YOU REPLACE TIMING BELT BECAUSE TIMING COVER HAS TO BE REMOVED WHEN YOU REPLACE WATER PUMP ALSO GET BOTH DONE SAVE TIME AND MONEY.CHANGE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER.REPLACE FUEL FILTER AND AIR FILTER.FLUSH COOLANT SYSTEM REPLACE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP HAVE GARAGE FLUSH OUT BRAKE SYSTEM ADD NEW BRAKE FLUID.INSPECT BRAKES HOSES CHECK FRONT BRAKES PADS AND CHECK INSIDE CALIPER FOR LEAKING SEALS CHECK REAR DRUM BRAKE SHOES CHECK FOR LEAKING WHEEL CYLINDER SEALS.CHECK BALL JOINTS AND STEERING LINKAGE SEALS.CHECK DRIVE BELT OR BELTS.CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID LOOK OLD DIRTY HAVE GARAGE CHANGE POWER STEERING FLUID.ALL THOSE THINGS HAS TO BE CHECK AND DONE IF LAST OWNER NEGLECT DID NOT TAKE CARE OF VECHICLE.ITS GOING TO BE A EXPENSIVE COST. JUST DO A LITTLE AT A TIME.THE TIMING BELT WOULD BE MY WORRY IF IT BREAKS ENGINE IS DONE.I WOULD REPLACE WATER PUMP AND TIMING BELT FIRST WOULD DRIVE MUCH UNTIL THATS FIX.

I m looking to get my 75000 maintenance done on my Audi 2004 a6, I m at 76000 miles, the 75000 maintenance includes replacing water pump and timing belt... how long past 75000 is safe to keep driving, i am...

If the car has been kept up you shound not have any worries. I can say that you should be ok for another 5000 miles or your next oil change, Just remember it's PREVENTIVE manintence and it's important to keep the car in top shape. hope this helps.

What is the interval for changing the timing belt on the audi rs6, in miles

Audi recomends intitial replacement at 35,000 then every 40,000 miles. This engine is labeled as an interference engine so be careful. What this means is that if the belt breaks, it could cause engine damage(bent valves).

Suggestion for 2003 Jaguar X type and 1999 A6 Audi

Was looking at parts online and could not find a timing belt for the Jag. Did find the timing cover oil seal which makes me think it has a chain , not a belt so no worries. As always I could be wrong. The audi definitely has a belt , should be changed at 60,000 Miles / 100,000 Km. I have a passat with the 2.8 V6 and find performance is not great , nor is fuel economy.
The good and bad......... jag is newer , audi is lower mileage Both are slightly finicky and repair and maint would be more $$$ than more generic cars. Ignore carfax , it is an unreliable scam.
Take each to a mechanic of your choice for an inspection.
My personal opinion is it comes down to age. If you are over 45 go with the Jag , under 45 go with the audi. (lots of performance and apearance mods avail.)

What is the recommended milage for a timing belt change on a 2004 Audi A6?

Hi

Audi recently increased the service interval on these belts from 60,000 to 80,000 miles. You cannot do a timing belt inspection - you must replace it at the specified interval due to the fact that a belt may look good but can still fail due to undetectable stressors in the belt itself when it reaches this mileage.

You do not say which engine variant you have in your car but 80,000 is now the general belt interval that is specified.

Hope this helps.

Santro car is having rough noise from engine. done 78000 kms on

Hi. if your timeing belt has not been changed that would be the noise it will make. you should get done right away because if that belt breaks you motor will need a new top end. I hear them all the time when the belt is getting to go and the way you explained it. It sounds like you need one today. It will cost you about 500. hope i was a help to you and good luck. P.S. change that belt every 60,000 miles.

Does the timing belt need to be changed?

There is no real way of telling as there are cords buried in the rubber of the belt that break.Toyota says to replace it every 90,000 mi..I have seen them last longer but that would be your call.If you get it done you should also change the drive belts as they have to take them off and on anyway and you should only have to pay the parts. That is if they are original. Thanks for using fixya
