Thode screws hold the lens or the light assembly? Allow for the whole tail light to come out and the bulb plug will be accessible. I never had the privilage. But how the lens fits will tell you. If the lens goes overthe edges, the whole unit comes out, lens is sealed. Good luck

The whole tail light came out, but can not get to the plug to remove old tail light so that I can plug in new tail light unit. Do I have to take off the side panel in the back of my SUV to reach the plug?

How to remove a taillight?

To replace the brake light bulb for the Nissan xTerra 2002, remove the two bolts that anchor the light cover. A 10mm socket wrench fits. Then grasp the light cover with both hands and pull straight towards you. Be firm. It may groan but it will come out. The bulb assemply is then easy to access. When replacing the cover, simply repeat the process backwards. The light cover will snap into place, then replace the bolts

How to remove tail lite cover on 2002 xteara

Open the back gate and you will see a couple of philips head screws. Unscrew them and snap the tail light out gently. There a couple of plastic clips that hold the tail light in place. Be careful not to break them (pull the light straight out not up, down, left, or right) Once the tail light cover is removed, separate it from the backing and reflective insert. To change the bulbs just twist counter clock wise and push in. Snap the new bulbs in and repeat the whole process in reverse.

Where is the fuse for the rear license plate light for a 2006 xterra

License plate lights and tail lights share the same source of power. It is located inside the IPDM (Intelligent Power Distribution Module). Find it in the engine room RH, the box nearest to the firewall.

I just changed out a tailight on my 2000 Nissan Xterra, so I assume it may be similar. You have to pop the plastic strip which runs across the back. There are pop rivits in it.
