Question about 1999 Toyota Camry
I bought a 1999 Toyota Camry V6 3.0L automatic. It driven by a old woman and has only 43K miles on it. The problem I have is that when I insert the key to drvier side door(no remote), then it only unlock that door. If I insert the key from pasenger side, then it unlock all 4 doors. It seems to me it could be factory default (either wired wrong or firmware (programming) is wrong). Does anyone know how it can be fixed, so I can unlock/lock all 4 doors from a key from the driver side door. I appreciate if you also send email to me when you post some answers (firstname.lastname@example.org)
I believe this was done as a safety feature. It stops a potential car hyjacker from sneaking in the passenger door when you open the driver door. I know recent Hyundai models are set up such that if you turn the key in the driver's door once it only unlocks the driver's door. If you turn it twice in quick succession it unlocks all of the doors. Maybe the Camry is set up the same way.
