Question about 1998 GMC Jimmy
I have a 1998 gmc jimmy 4wd, 4 dr. and it will not disengage out of 4wd it is stuck in 4LO my button inside the vehicle does not work so we are trying to remove the silinoid and little motor off the side of the transfer case. Any suggestions??? Please help! I have a 2000 chevy blazer 4x4, 4 door with electronic tranfercase. I ended up getting stuck and put it in 4-low trying to get out and now it wont come out of 4-low.
Likely either a shifter position sensor, transmission position sensor, or a differential position sensor. Had same issue w/ my Montero and it ended up being one of the 5 sensors on the transfer case. It was pretty tough to get to, so replaced all 5. That fixed it.

If its a push button 4x4 take it to the shop its a VERY COMMON Problem dealing with the electric.Once you pay the $400 to get it fixed get rid of the truck and settle for a Jimmy/Blazer/Bravada with a floor shift 4x4..GM had problems with the push button 4x4.DONT DRIVE YOUR TRUCK IN THE MEANTIME.YOU WILL BLOW YOUR TRANSFER CASE RIGHT OUT OF IT!
