P0441 OBD2 Code

With a P0441 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try: Common Chrysler fix - Replace Leak Detection Pump / LDP Repair damaged EVAP lines or canister Repair open or short in voltage feed circuit to Purge Solenoid Repair open in PCM purge command circuit Replace purge Solenoid Replace vacuum switch Repair restriction in Evap line or canister or soleniod Repair resistance in purge connector Replace PCM, as you haven't posted your vehicle make model year etc i've listed the most common faults, as you have tried a few of these i'd go for the open/short circuit to/from PCM , hope this helps these are a real pain to get to the cause at times

Have a p0441 on my mitsubishi galant 2.4v

Hi there:DTC P0441 - Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge FlowThis indicates that a part of the EVAP control system is no longer fuctioning correctly. The EVAP system consists of many parts, including (but not limited to) the gas cap, fuel lines, carbon canister, purge valve, and other hoses. The (EVAP) emission control system prevents the escape of fuel vapors from a vehicle's fuel system. Fuel vapors are routed by hoses to a charcoal canister for storage. Later, when the engine is running a purge control valve opens allowing intake vacuum to siphon the fuel vapors into the engine.

EVAP emission canister purge is contolled by a valve which allows engine vacuum to pull stored fuel vapors from fuel tank into the engine to be burned, rather than be vented to atmosphere. A vacuum switch is used to detect when flow exists. If the PCM commands purge and sees that the switch is closed (indicating no detected purge flow) P0441 is set.
Likely, no symptoms will be discernible to the driver, other than the illuminated Check Engine Light.

A code P0441 could mean one or more of the following has happened:Bad vacuum switchBroken or damaged EVAP line or canisterOpen in PCM purge command circuitOpen or short in Voltage feed circuit to Purge SolenoidFaulty purge solenoidRestriction in EVAP solenoid, line or canisterCorrosion or resistance in purge connectorBad PCM
Possible Solutions: with a P0441 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

P0441

DTC P0441 - Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow

What does that mean?
This indicates that a part of the EVAP control system is no longer fuctioning correctly.

Symptoms
Likely, no symptoms will be discernible to the driver, other than the illuminated Check Engine Light.

Causes
A code P0441 could mean one or more of the following has happened:
* Bad vacuum switch
* Broken or damaged EVAP line or canister
* Open in PCM purge command circuit
* Open or short in Voltage feed circuit to Purge Solenoid
* Faulty purge solenoid
* Restriction in EVAP solenoid, line or canister
* Corrosion or resistance in purge connector
* Bad PCM

Possible Solutions
With a P0441 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try:

* Common Chrysler fix - Replace Leak Detection Pump / LDP
* Repair damaged EVAP lines or canister
* Repair open or short in voltage feed circuit to Purge Solenoid
* Repair open in PCM purge command circuit
* Replace purge Solenoid
* Replace vacuum switch
* Repair restriction in Evap line or canister or soleniod
* Repair resistance in purge connector
* Replace PCM

Other EVAP DTCs: P0440 - P0441 - P0442 - P0443 - P0446 - P0453 - P0455 - P0456

Hope helps.

0441 code dodge durago

P0441 has nothing to do with the gas cap. You may have a problem with the Leak Detection Pump, Purge valve or hoses connecting all of it together. Have a repair shop check it out. Guessing gets expensive.

2001 toyota 4runner< engine light on, code comes out to be - p0441 auto zone said change gas cap, i did, 2 weeks later light comes on again< what do you think?

You can get this code if you don't tighten the gas cap all the way, or the gas cap is bad. I will put all the detail for the code below and what I would do to fix the problem...

NOTE: Do not top off your tank either. This could cause the 'overfill check valve' to fail, and could cause this code.

Definition of P0441: Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect
Purge Flow

Detection logic:
DTCs P0441 and P0446 are recorded by the ECM when evaporative emissions leak from the emissions components
or when there is a malfunction in either the VSV for EVAP, the VSV for
pressure switching valve, or in the vapor pressure sensor itself.
detection cause: Pressure in charcoal canister and fuel tank does not drop or
drop in pressure increased beyond the specified limit during
purge control (2 trip detection logic)

What I would do:
1. Replace fuel cap and reset computer. If code returns, then proceed to next

The next steps require a diagram, so the purchase of service manual to locate the components is very helpful

2. Check for vacuum leaks in ALL emission hoses
3. Check VSV valve operation (there are three; they are ~$75 new from dealer, and sometimes fail)
4. Check for cracks or leaks around or in the charcoal canister (usually requires a smoke machine)
5. check for voltage to VSV's
6. Last resort: take it to the dealer and have them run a diagnosis. This should run between $50-$100.

Good luck!
