Question about 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix
If the s belt is not replaced correctly, could this affect the alternator? I had a new s belt put in my 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix and drove about 30 miles when my car broke down on the interstate. The garage where my car was towed is telling me my alternator is bad. The timing of the s belt being replaced and my car breaking down a few miles later seems to be connected. What do you think?
If your belt was not properly routed it could be the issue. About 30 miles driving would be enough time to drain the battery, and your problem may very well be related to a improperly routed belt.
