Sensor steering damage?

My engine light came on and took it to Auto Zone to get checked and they said something was wrong with the sensor in the power steering. I'm a girl & have no idea what that means lol. Is it serious? Can someone help?

The switch on the power steering rack is to let the computer know you are turning so it can raise the idle a bit to compensate for the added load. It is very easy to change from under the car. It just screws in to the rack. I hope this helps.

Took car to auto zone after check engine light came on and car stalls when cold. Is there anything cheaper then buying a new nass airflow sensor I can try first?

They do make a mass air flow sensor spray cleaner...and it does say MASS Air Flow Sensor Cleaner on the spray can....this would be your cheapest route first. Auto Zone and all other stores sell this product.

There is a dealer recall on the crank position sensor. The dealer will either replace it for free or reprogram the On Board computer. (It overheats because of where it's placed on the engine) My car was re-programmed but the sensor eventually failed and the car stalled in traffic.
Suggest you purchase an OBD 2 code reader. Or you can check one out from Auto Zone parts stores. You plug it in under the dash right below the steering wheel. A booklet will tell you what the error code means. I can't tell you how many stranded motorists I've plugged it into their vehicle (post 1997) and told them what the problem was.

Service engine soon engine light

it will eventually hurt something, when your car engine light comes on its a sensor telling the computer in your v ehicle somethings wrong and puts your computer in a closed loop ,which is a safety so lets say its the o2 sensor so your car doesnt run lean ,it goes into closed loop and will feed your car more gas, this is the best safety mode your cpu can do,which will cause other emmision sensors to fail and will cause damage the motor, take it to auto zone theyll check it for free,or pep boys and give you a print out for free including how much the part cost.dont forget to give a fix ya vote
