SOURCE: Our Suzuki Grand Vitara runs

I have a 2006, and I was just advised that it is the EGR valve, which cost 624.24 to replace. It is not a warranty item. Do you have any knowlege if this is an ongoing problem.

Sounds like you are getting too miuch fuel and not enough air. Try replacing your spark plugs and wires, then cleaning your throttle body. Replace the air filter too if its been awhile. This will probably fix the problem.

thats what it sounds like, a bad or clogged up fuel filter. if it bogs down when giving it gas, or going up a hill. its probably the fuel filter not letting enough fuel to engine. that is why it stalls at a stop. if this helps but not fully. check or clean idle air control motor. this is what maintains proper idle of vehicle. have a good day !!

Acceleration problems

the usual culpit is a clogged fuel filter, or bad plugs. if it bogs down on hills or highway it is the filter. also make sure air filter is clean.

Losing power going over hill

well i think the piston ring are already loose, causing insufficient air compression leading to lower power especially on uphill tracks. check also for the air-fuel ratio! too much fuel usually is the cause for thick smoke emission; too much air, causes also less power.

Can't get speed go up hills

That's often the sign of a clogged fuel filter. Running on level ground or not trying to accelerate hard, enough fuel can get through for the engine to make the power you need. But when you try to punch it to accelerate quickly, or you try to go up a hill (basically anytime max power is needed), the car can't flow enough fuel to the engine to make that power, and the car seems to fall on its face. Change your fuel filter out and see if that helps.

Losing power up one particular long hill

If there are no lights or ECU codes, esp the water temp sensor, then the usual remedies are to use injector cleaner, and clean the throttle body, check for water in the fuel filter (and the fuel tank). Make sure the engine oil level is full, and so on. I assume a hill outside Sydney doesn't get enough altitude to be an issue, unlike a hill outside of say Denver, CO that goes up near 10,000ft above sea level where you should expect a significant power loss.
