Question about 1989 Nissan Maxima
Power windows don't work at all for my 1990 Nissan 300ZX 2+2 Can anyone tell me how to check the fuse? I don't have the kick panel for the fuse box, and I don't think the fuse for the power windows is in the fuse box by my left foot anyway. OR any other ideas how to troubleshoot the problem source? Thanks, RW I just bought a 1989 Nissan Maxima. The other day my passenger window went up when I pushed down. I messed with the window lock and it started working appropriately again. Today I got to work and the window wouldn't go up. The window lock is off as I can open/close other windows. I'm not getting any noise from the window motor so I don't think it is dead. Any suggestions?

check fuses first... that is a quick, easy, and very possible problem and luckily it isn't hard to do.
grab a volt meter or DMM and check to see if you have voltage coming in and then as you press check voltage on the rest of the plug on the switches. if you have nothing here is what i recommend.
remove the actual master switch and carefully take it apart down to the actual contacts (before very cautious not to break any of the plastic clips and watch for springs and small rollers inside the switch). look for carbon build up on the switch contacts and gently clean them with a small piece of fine grit sand paper. once all contacts are clean put everything back together and plug back into vehicle to test. repeat same process for passenger side if you are having issues on that side as well.
this is a standard process i go through anytime i buy an older vehicle.
