Question about 1989 Nissan Maxima

1 Answer

Driver side passenger window not working. it doesn't sound like a bad motor

Power windows don't work at all for my 1990 Nissan 300ZX 2+2 Can anyone tell me how to check the fuse? I don't have the kick panel for the fuse box, and I don't think the fuse for the power windows is in the fuse box by my left foot anyway. OR any other ideas how to troubleshoot the problem source? Thanks, RW I just bought a 1989 Nissan Maxima. The other day my passenger window went up when I pushed down. I messed with the window lock and it started working appropriately again. Today I got to work and the window wouldn't go up. The window lock is off as I can open/close other windows. I'm not getting any noise from the window motor so I don't think it is dead. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: power windows don't work at all for my 1990 Nissan 300ZX

check fuses first... that is a quick, easy, and very possible problem and luckily it isn't hard to do.
grab a volt meter or DMM and check to see if you have voltage coming in and then as you press check voltage on the rest of the plug on the switches. if you have nothing here is what i recommend.
remove the actual master switch and carefully take it apart down to the actual contacts (before very cautious not to break any of the plastic clips and watch for springs and small rollers inside the switch). look for carbon build up on the switch contacts and gently clean them with a small piece of fine grit sand paper. once all contacts are clean put everything back together and plug back into vehicle to test. repeat same process for passenger side if you are having issues on that side as well.
this is a standard process i go through anytime i buy an older vehicle.

1996 nissan pathfinder driver side window won't go up and down

does it click or grind when pushing window button if so the window lift track may need replaced, if there are no sounds then disconnect the wires from the lift motor and with the ignition on so power is sent to switch, push button and check wires to 12 volts dc. If no power I would replace the driver side switch after checking the wires for defects. If there is power then I would re-install wires to motor after turning off key and try button again with power on. replace motor if it doesn't work.

1990 nissan 300zx has a bad fuel smell inside car. Can anyone give me tips on what to look for?

the problem is your fuel lines, in the engine room over the upper planum. they are pretty old and they will crack. Usually that samell comes when starting the engine in cold. Probebly your fuel line are finito. Change them all.
Hope this will helps.

Power windows: passenger window does not go up or down, checked the fuses under the steering wheel column on the driver side and the passenger side. switched the fuses from the side that doesn't work...

Switching Fuses proved nothing

Don't have a volt meter ?

Did you check out any of the window switches ?

If not the switch, then door panel comes off & you
test the motor

My right hand side power window does not work but the left side does

Common prob with these is the switches. Check this as your 1st port of call, then check the motor in the door.

Driver side window won't go up comes down but not up

Sounds like a bad motor. I have a bad motor on my 1990 Cadillac Deville on the passenger side where it goes down all the way, but will not go up once it is recessed completely in the door.
Then, I got a small pair of long nose pliers, and 'helped' it to go up while depressing the up button, and then it goes up and works for most of the travel of the window.

If the motor needs 'help' to go up, then the power window motor is likely bad.

Electric window on passenger side of nissan serena not working drivers side switch does not work it either others windows are ok.

it may just need a window motor. you can usually find one in a junkyard or maybe an autoparts store. if you can remove, or get someone to, remove the door panel you should be able to see the motor for it. with the car off disconnect the window switch plug from the window motor and the motor usually screws out. be careful and try to get the window supported (or hold it) because there is a slight possibility that it may fall..
