Question about 1996 Honda Accord

My speaker system only works sporadically

My factory installed speaker system only works some times. There is often a popping sound when they come back on but the radio is playing all the while. Is there a simple main wire that is likely shorting out coming out of the radio that needs to be replaced? They either all work or none of them work.

There are a few things that it could be. ok simplest thing is the ground wire yes it has a constant conection but not a good enough conection it has happened to me before. the worst its a problem internaly that is common eather a loose conection on the output serkit also try to push the wires in on the clip on the back. hope this helps you can go to a junk yard and get a replacement or aftermarket.

Hogar - No sound from Boss Radio after initial installation test.

If you are hooked up to the factory wiring harness i would think there may be a factory amplifier that is not getting power or is bad.

Test the stereo by hooking a speaker up to the speaker out wires from head unit. if it has sound try to find out if there is a factory amplifier.

Good Luck

I Hooked up my new stereo and cant get any sound. I put the factory Bose back in and the sound works. Hooked up my new stereo to another car and it has sound. Can anyone tell me Why im not getting sound...

If you had a "Bose" sound system - Factory installed - it should have and Amplified System - which means the original stereo will supply power to the Speaker Amps - that is the circuit that didn't get connected and why there is no sound.
I hope that resolves your issue
Thanks

Static popping and buzzing sounds come from the speakers when the car is running. The Radio is not turned on and it will continue for a long time, quit then start again as you are driving.

Is it a factory amplified system? Could be the volume knob. Might try unplugging the radio for test purposes and see if it still pops and buzzes to get a better idea of where to go next

1996 Ford Explorer factory Radio works but when i install the aftermarket radio no sound comes out from it what do i do ..??

Does it light up? Does it have a mute button? Does it have a mute wire for in vehicle phone systems? If so, it may need to be grounded to take it out of mute, or it may need to go to 12 volts + It depends on how the circuit was designed.

If those check out, or it lights up but no muting make sure the speakers are connected to the correct wires. Also check to make sure the speakers are not grounded. Two wires should go to each speaker. you can check the condition of the speakers with a 9 volt battery touched across the leads, you will hear a pop sound. make sure those two wires for each speaker are connected to the radio correctly.

sounds the like the vehicle had an oem amplifier that was removed, most after market stereo installers will trace the speakers wires individually by continuity to by pass the factory amplifier and wire the new head unit to the vehicles speakers, if the harness has been spliced or factory amp removed, you will need to check if the amplifier still exists (usually under passenger rear seat sometimes located in trunk area) and see if the harness has been bypassed. if so you will have to reconnect the harness by color code in order to use the factory head unit

well your deck might be bad, you could have a lose connection in your wiring to your speakers, you might not have a connection to your speakers, or your speakers could be bad.
