Depends on where you get it. Rebuild kit is about 150 bucks and probably another 400 to 900 to get the work done.
May be able to find a donor from a junk yard with low milage and just replace the whole thing. this is about 250-350 bucks from a pick your part place.

At timesdoes not appear to get into gear

hi, your problem is not specific to Jaguar, it is a common auto trans problem, can be associated with high fluid temperature or loss of pressure, blocked radiators, filter, clutch / band wear, dirt in valves etc. sometimes flushing and cleaning the cooling systems may do the trick but often it is due to the system requiring service and even transmission rebuild .. a good honest transmission specialist for genuine advice is probably your best course of action, often rebuilt trans are available on an exchange basis. check temperature and radiators first because it is low cost option, remove trans dip stick and smell the fluid to see if it smells burnt, also look at the colour to see if it is red (normal) or dark brown, both signs that clutches have been overheated and might need replacing. Remember also that a rebuilt box normally means a replacement torque converter, another expense. hope that helps.

My 97 grand caravan runs great when its cold, but when it heats up the ****** down shifts to first and usually stays there. sometimes it will jump back to 3rd. I noticed that it only does this when the...

It's actually your transmission fluid getting hot! Check trans. cooling lines going to radiator or aux.trans.cooler. Check fluid on dipstick with engine running, if you fluid is burnt looking not bright red anymore. Have your fliud flushed-changed and have service tech flush lines through radiator. You may solve problem this easy, but worse case senerio if it has done this for awhile you may need to rebuild trans. and get new cooling lines. My chrysler did the same thing but it cost me $1450.00 for the rebuilt trans.. After my trans. was rebuilt by the 35 years experianced shop,I found that the cooling lines were clogged and it burntout there fresh rebuild. The warranty I got paid for the second go around rebuilding trans.again. That company had to eat the costs. Now everything shifts great! Drove it on vacation! Make sure if you get trans. rebuilt they replace the governor sensor and solenoid sensor if your trans. is electronic like my 95 is.

I bought a used Ford explorer sport with 80K on it. Shortly after purchasing it. the overdrive light indication on the dash display will intermittently blink. I took it to my mechanic they checked the code...

Best quality is never the cheapest price. Replacing the solenoid pack is MUCH less that having the trans rebuilt. and usually they replace the solenoid pack as part of the rebuild. So find a trans shop that will trouble shoot the trans and come up with a plan of action. 80K is young for trans trouble, but you never know about past servicing, overloading or abuse.

My ford explorer 1998 won't go in reverse. I have transmission fluid in it.

My 1988 Explorer would not go in reverse either after the trans was just rebuilt about a year before. Turned out it was the transfer case. Unfortunately it cost as much as getting the trans rebuilt. I thought the transfer case was just for the 4 wheel drive but it has something to do with the reverse as well believe it or not. Hope that helps.

Transmission , trans is slipping after it warms up, or after few miles, can it be my filter dirty? or do you think it needs to be replaced or rebuilt? rb

For any auto transmission always think basic solution, in this case change the filter, replace with new fluid, Sure repair shops want to replace the entire unit, why more money. a new trans will fix the problem. but so might a filter and fluid change do the trick for alot less money. New trans costs 2500.00 filter and fluid 50.00. you do the math
