If the Power Steerring Oil level is low then in the morning PS light comes on and when the Engine is hot enough the Volume of  Steering Oil increases and light goes off. If you use the thicker oil than the standared steerign oil even then the light comes on, and when you drive the car, steering oil get hot and dialutes and light goes off. If your PS light remains permanently on and you feel no problem with your Power Steering, then it may be the  cause of moisture in your Car Computer.

2000 S500 MB- STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING

Hi Joey, I've never heard of that happening before. It must have something to do with the steering wheel lock mechanism, which is mechanical. Did you buy the vehicle new or was it a used vehicle and do you have service records. If you do, go through them and look for a job when the ignition switch was replaced and get in touch with that shop. If there is no record get the barrel, lock and switch replaced. Have the shop also inspect the steering column for wear. Do not try to drive the vehicle at all we all need you around. Book the vehicle taken into an authorised dealer and ask them to send a recovery vehicle. Regards John

Sometimes it won't start, just clicks. replaced the starter and the battery. power gets to the starter, so don't think it's the ignition switch.

if your power going to starter from ignition switch ,your starter has to be faulty or main wires on starter has bad connection

I need to know where is the oil presure switch of a 2003 ford windstar 3.8l

On a 1996 3.8 L Should be under the power steering on the block. Looking at the pulleys on the right side just above the oil pan. This would involve removing the pwr steering punp and hoses.

I don't know if a 2003 is different.. You could inspect the area visually to check it.

To get to replace it...
96 - 98 windstar 3.8 oil pressure switch is located under power steering pump. Remove serpentine belt and alternator. Remove PS pump pulley with special puller to get access to PS pump bolts. Drain PS pump and remove PS hoses. Remove PS pump.

I cracked the part of the power steering pump that holds the ps fluid while putting the surp. belt on. Do I have to change the whole ps pump or can I just fix the part that is cracked?

Probably any repair you do to the reservoir will not hold you will need to replace, Sometimes you can buy the reservoir separate then the pump on this vehicle I am unsure you will have to consult your parts store ..

Good luck

I also 2001 bmw 325ci. Your description of events exactly matches mine, right down to the problem occurring immediately after a sudden turn. Turns out it was the steering pump. I'm not a mechanic but have fiddled around with stuff over the years. I used the following link to replace mine. Saved several hundred dollars. Power steering pump is stiff on occasion not only in the morning but sometimes during the day also.fluid is at normal level. belts have been replaced last year?

The fluid check valve built into the power steering pump may be bypassing your pressurized fluid back to the reservoir, and not assisting your steering input. You may need a new pump. The only way to know for sure is to have the power steering output checked with a guage set.

Power Steering Fluid Leaking!

should only be 2 hoses coming from and to your PS unit 1 is high pressure and the other is a return line. the Fluid all over the engine compartment is from the fan blowing the fluid,

my suggestion clean the area fill the PS unit up and have someone start the vehicle and watch where the fluid is coming from.
