Will not start when key is turned, it just clicks

My Jeep GC Limited will not start. I had the battery checked and it is good, all lights work. when I start it all it does is click. I have checked every fuse there is. i have a limited V8 4wd, when i turn the key, the starter clicks but wont turn over. I replaced the starter and checked the battery and the ground connection. all are ok but i still have the same problem. Is it possible I bought a bad starter? Its an autolite starter. or is it possible that my engine may have froze? I have 137000 miles on it and i don't drive it rough.

Have you cleaned the terminals and wires for your battery? Or tried bypassing the ignition by turning the key forward and crossing the terminals on the starter itself?

The battery might not have enough juice. Try jump-starting it, try hitting the starter with something while its being cranked. It is possible you bought a bad starter since I don't know who you got it from.

Put a socket on the crankshaft and see if you can turn the engine over. If you can't, the engine may have seized.
If not, check the starter again. Pull it out and leave it wired up and try it with the key switch.

2007 jeep gc won't start. Lights, battery all Dash lights had been acting strangely before this happened. Turned the car off, Swapped AC relay with starter relay and nothing.

i guess you mean starter is dead, and all lights dead.
pointing to....
the battery is dead, did you jumper cable start it?
if that works the battery is bad, dead or only dischanged.
if that dont work make sure the battery cable lugs are cleaned.
no rust on cable ends( that green junk there that all cars get)
if the head lamps die (they work key off so...)
then the battery is dead, or rusty lugs.
if battery is dead, charge it. using a charger.

Why wont my Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited start?

Sounds like you have a bad alternator. Not recirculating juice back to the battery.

Will not start at random times, starter does not crank or turn over

Check your battery to make sure it has at least 12 volts then check the battery cables for corrosion or poor connection if all checks out ok then the starter solenoid is the problem.

Having trouble with 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited not starting when the key is turned. It clicks but does not fire. It takes several tries to get the engine to start.

Three items to check there. Make sure the battery terminals are clean and secure, check the starter relay (quick way is to steal another in the power center and switch them). Also check the engine grounds and that the starter solenoid is engaging. If you have power at the small terminal on the starter when the key is turned to start, good bet the starter is bad.

My 05 grand cherokee limited/hemi won't start, just clicks once.

95% of the time that means you need a starter, trying smacking it with a hammer while someone cranks the key

2004 Jeep GC limited stalls ONLY in reverse

you have to be careful that it is not the safety neutral switch.since stall means different things to different people,it is hard to tell exactly what is the issue.if the safety neutral switch, which is wired to the start and ignition circuits is bad,it could kill the engine.
jack up the vehicle and look for bad or shorted wires or connectors before doing anything else.
the other thing is how it behaves with no load on it. put a floor jack under the rear differential and raise it just enough for the wheels to be off the ground a couple inches.put it into reverse with no load and see if the wheels turn in 2wd mode.

Possible starter, or starter solenoid failure, or bad ground.

Won't start sometimes

Hmm, sounds like starter. Next time it will not start, don't hold the key for almost a minute. Try turning the key several times if no luck, grabb a hammer and LIGHTLY tap on starter. If it turns over normally then, starter is going out.
