The idle RPM is to low (700rpm) and the motor is runnig not nice outlander mitsubishi 2005 2.4L

Your throttle body likely needs cleaning.

Take the intake hose off and using throttle body cleaner or brake cleaner, spray a rag and use our fingers to clean the gunk off the throttle plate and the contacting area of the inside of the throttle body.

Check your coolant level when engine cold, low level coolant does not circulate very well at idle and will cause poor heating,at higher RPM water pump turns faster to help circulate.

Because we are at 8000 feet and brought our car from sealevel, can I manually adjust the carburator settings on my Mitsubishi Outlander 2005 2.0L 2WD


I thought that the 2005 Outlander petrol motors were 2.4 EFI motors. If you have a carburetor version, yes you can tune it for 8,000 ft above sea level. Being a 2005 model I would think that it should run well at 8,000 ft for they would be tuned very lean to start with to get past the smog laws. To change the settings you will have to pull the carburetor apart to change the jetting. The only adjustment that you can do on the exterior of the carburetor is the idle air mixture.

Could be a defect in the ECU. But 1000rpm is not that high my cars normal is 1000rpm. but some older models were about 700rpm
The AC rise is normal. You may want to have a OBD II check by your garage or you can buy a unit to do this. It will scan the sensors fitted for any problems.

After the engine start running for sometime it starts shaking.


hi this could be a few things, i would check your idle as a very low idle will cause engine shaking when the engine is near stalling, idle should be around 700rpm approx when warm. If that checks out all good check the leads and that one is not getting worn and causing a misfire or a vaccum hose is not off, both will cause similar problem. The last thing i can think of is a broken engine mount causing problem as when motor idles or runs at a certain rpm it will shake harder and may be the cause aswell

SOUNDS LIKE THE IDLE IS TOO HIGH! YOU CAN ADJUST THIS AT THROTTLE! YOU'LL SEE A PLATE WHERE THE CABLE IS ON TOP OF MOTOR! IF YOU MOVE THAT PLATE, THE IDLE WILL INCREASE! IN BACK OF THAT PLATE IS AN ADJUSTMENT SCREW! TURN IT OUT, AND THE IDLE WILL DECREASE!

Sounds like the electric fan is not coming on. Could be the switch screwed into the radiator, a malfunctioning fan relay, a blown fan fuse or the fan motor has gone bad.

When my 2005 chevy cavelier is idling (at stop lights, sitting in park, etc) where should the rpms be? I have a friend saying my rpms are too low when idling. Right now they are between 0 and 1. Thanks


Idle in park: 800-1100RPM is acceptable.
In drive: about 700RPM
Your idle speed is actually controlled by the idle air control motor also called the IAC. There isn't any idle adjustment you can manually set as the motor is fuel injected and EEC controls air and fuel mixture at idle.
