Try changing ou the PCV valve for a breather (you can buy one at autozone)
and taking out the useless aircleaner box (located above the passenger wheel well) that should help

We had the same problem with our Blazer, and after thousands of dollars and multiple shops returning it to us.....It was the fuel lines on top of the motor. one of them had a small crack in it. Vortec is FAMOUS for it. scence then I ll buy other peoples head aches and sell them. wish I would have known sooner

You would need to figure out if the problem is too much air or not enough fuel.
The carb has three internal circuits - - idle, cruise, and accelerate.
Fuel flows thru each circuit from the bowl to the venturi.
You could have a vac leak that is allowing too much air to enter the intake, or the idle circuit on the carb may not be adjusted correctly after the engine warms up.
Or it could be something else.

Faulty idle air control valve. Fuel filter clogged. Damaged or wet ignition system wires. Faulty idle control system. Low fuel pressure. Ignition timing or timing chain.

Car stumbles, backfires until warm

You need to replace your distributor. There has been many problems with these. I had the same problem with my 1993 villager and had tried many different things and none worked. I went to a junk yard and got a used distributor and now it runs fine. I would try this before anything alse.

Fuel pump is most likely the cause. Probably just barely making the required pressure to start. Needs to maintain 60-66 psi while cranking to start.
