I have a 2001 Volvo XC (V70), I think the fuel gauge may be frozen. Is this possible?

I have a 2001 Volvo XC (V70). It was very cold last night and this morning the fuel gauge is stuck on empty and the indicator light is on. I filled the tank last night and the gauge read full and I checked and there is no gas leak. Also this morning the two rear doors will not unlock when using the any of the automatic locks (both the remote and the buttons in the car). The front two door locks work fine, and I checked the "Child Lock" and it's off too. Only manually locking or unlocking them will work. I assume this is all due to the cold but thought I would check.

Electrical issue is causing your hassles. Look for a bad ground in circuit common to those items.

SOURCE: 1998 Jetta Passenger Door Won't Unlock

I had a similar problem with my son's 1998 Jetta K2 4 door. I sprayed loads of WD40 into the locking area from the end of the door through the clip slot, worked the mechanism sprayed some more and finally it start working. My mechanic said these are very prone to moisture causing rusting on the moving parts.

I have 2001 volvo v70 xc awd the car start but the rpm will not go higher than 12,and when i try to drive it it will not go more than 20m/hour

Sounds to be a clogged catalyctic converter, have someone install a vac. gauge on the intake and see if the gauge drops while driving if it does the cat is at fault, by dropping i mean it will slowly go to almost zero vac and stay there as the car heats up.

Why does my engine not reach normal operating temperature, too cool, temp gauge is about 1/4, 1/2 is normal, with lower engine temp the heater takes longer to warm the car. Could the problem be the...

I suspect you are right with the thermostat angle.

The new thermostats are the opposite to the old ones that used to cook the motor when they failed.
The new ones run too cold in case of failure and also up the fuel consumption because the computer gives a cold motor more fuel than a hot one.

Volvo V70 xc AWD '98 - fuel filter change

Brandonlo168,

The fuel filter can be located under the carpeted cargo storage floor at the rear of the wagon. Remove the four 10mm bolts, remove the cover. You will then see a removeable plate to the right just behind the rear passenger seat. Fuel filter can be seen through hole in hole. Replaced from underneath wagon. Be sure to make sure lines are fully inserted onto filter. Check for leaks. No smoking, extinguisher handy. Note arrow on filter for correct fuel flow.
