You have what is called a 'coil-over plug' system, which means there is a seperate ignition coil for each plug. On each side you will see 4 small plastic boxes with a single bolt and some wires plugged into it. Remove the bolt, unplug the wires and pull the coil out. the plug is in the hole. Repeat for all 8.

Your vehicle doesn't have spark plug wires . Has coil on plug ignition system . Eight individual coils sitting right on top of the spark plugs . An the spark plugs have the tendency to break in the cylinder head . Does your ford have the 5.4 L 3 valve engine . Your best bet is to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop that has the tool to take the broken spark plug out off the cylinder head. The spark plugs are under 8 ignition coilpacks on top of the intake manifold. You have to lift the fuel rail on the drivers side to get the #4 plug out.

Ignition Distributor location

There is no cap and rotor, as the vehicles igntion system is DIS (digital ignition system). The recommended tune-up on these motors require sparkplug and coil replacement. The coil type in this vehicle is COPs (coil over plugs). Usually moist and oxidation develope on the sparkplug chamber walls from faulty or worn coil boots. This causes the coil to short, they must be replaced at 75,000 miles at the same time the sparkplugs are replaced. Typical symtoms are: Vehicle stalls (restarts and runs normal), intermitted jerks/sputter while driving, misfires, rough idle, severe power loss. Hopefully this helps

Chaning spark plugs 02 expedition

no special tools, this is what tools you will need:.7mm socket for the coil packs where underneath them is a deep hole and down there is the plugs---8mm socket for the fuel rail bolts(for the left side sitting in it)which i would use 1/4 inch drive for these--- 5/8 plug socket---6 inch extension---3 inch extension---ratchet---swivel---which i would use 3/8 inch drive for these---and maybe long needle-nose pliers incase the rubber boot from the coil packs come off and sticks to the plug.

2001 ford expedition spark plug location

That's because they are hidden quite well. If you look at the engine, you'll see yellow plastic prongs (?) that look like spark plugs, but hook up to the silver tubing.  That's the fuel injectors.  BUT, right behind the yellow plugs, are black ones.  The black one is the connector to the spark plug.  The plug itself sits about 4 inches down into the block of the engine.  They are a real pain, and from what I can tell, you only have decent access to the first 2-4 of them, then they get too far back and start going under the dash (you'll see what I mean when you get there).
