For your trailer you need park light, brake light, left and right signal light. the best way is to tap them in the rear tail light wires.

97 nissan pathfinder dash and tail lights keeps burning out the fuse i know theres a short but where is the best place to look

I have to ask, what was the last thing you were hooking up before the problem started. Did you do any wiring under the dash possibly a radio install, or a wiring harness for trailer at the back of the car. If so, you should look for shorts in those areas. I don't know how easy this will be for you, but start looking.GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

96 Pathfinder. I want to Install a flat four trailer connector

It's easiest to buy a T-One Connector. No need to cut wires, it will plug in to your factory harness and give you a flat 4 connector.

I need to add a wiring harness to pull a trailer, how do I hook this up to pathfinder

Get a harness that just tees into the rear lamps. On the drivers side rear of the vehicle you should find a connector for the back lamps.Disconnect it there and tee into that harness.Route the wires out of harms way and you are goos to go.Hope this helps,

When hooking up trailer I get no left hand turn signal. Nissan turn signal works fine. Couldn't find a problem with harness or other wiring. Is there a fuse box I don't know about?

If the Nison lights are working it has to be the wireing from the car to the trailer or the left bulb or socket on the trailer. Also if this trailer wasen't wired for this spicific car it probably won't work right anyway. When checking the wireing I find that findind the ground wire on both the car and trailer are one and the same at the connection . Then it just a matter of checking each wire with a batery to determine which wire is for which light. And making the right connection to the car. Some cars the signal wire and the brake light wire are the same wire .

Were do you hook up the two wires under the hood for trailer brakes on a 2000 silverado

Sometime around 2000, GM started putting trailering pre-wire harnesses in the vehicle. Your truck may have this harness built in and would greatly simplify brake controller installation. Look under the glovebox and see if there is a wire harness tied off. There will be four wires in this harness, which should be run over to the steering column to use it. Most trailer brake controllers are compatible with this harness.
The four wires in the harness are: Red, 12vdc; black, ground; blue or purple, brake pedal; and brown or white, trailer brake wire to seven pin, four pin, or five pin connector at trailer hitch, if your truck came from the factory with a trailer hitch.
If you are adding the hitch and do not have the four wire harness, the under hood wires from your brake controller are Red, connect to one of the studs under the distribution box cover (the distribution box is on the driver's side against the firewall. Underneath the cover are two large threaded studs which are hot from the battery all the time); and the other wire from your brake controller would have to be run the length of the truck along the frame, tied off in several places, to the trailer hitch connector on the bumper. Follow the directions that came with trailer hitch wiring connector to connect this wire to the proper pin in the connector.
If this has helped you, great, and please remember to vote/comment.
Good luck!

Parking lights on Nissan Frontier on - trailer parking not. 4 pin connector to factory connector (after market sealed wiring) - brake and turn signals work - no power to "brown" wire at factory connector...

First check the fuses. There may be one for trailer running lights. Check also power at the harness. If the brake lights and turn signals are seperate, there has to be a converter from 5 to 4 wire. For the power to feed back to the brake lights it sounds like the vehicle wiring is direct and not using a converter... or one of the bulbs on the trailer is contacting both contacts. Try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx and maybe get a simple 4 pin tester that plugs into the 4 pin connecter. Hope this helps.
