Its hard to understand what you are asking? The front driveshafts are attached to the wheels. the rear wont turn if the wheels are on the ground. I would never buy a car with parts disconnected. sounds like BS.

If you are talking about only the drive shaft joints being bad, take it out and take it to a driveshaft repair shop. Look in the yellow pages or call a trans shop and ask who they use to check, straighten and balance drive shafts. About $150.00 and may do it while you wait. Might as well put new joints in the rear one and balance while your there.

I have a 1990 chevy K1500 4X4 with a NV3500 5 speed manual. I want to use it in a 2 wheel drive truck. Can this be done and what modifications do i need to make to it?

You'll need to find a tail piece for the transmission, a 2WD driveshaft and probably a trans mount crossmember. The driveshaft needs to come out of a truck that had that transmission installed in it to be the right length.
You should be able to find all this in a scrap yard or auto salvage yard for a decent price ($200 range) unless it is a fiberglass driveshaft. To have a driveshaft built custom for your truck will probably cost around $350. Hope this helps.
