Question about 1993 Plymouth Voyager

1 Answer

Fixing brakes I have a 1993 Plymouth Voyager van, the abs light stays on and when I push on the brakes it makes a humming noise. I have replaced all the brakes.... where do I go next? Still working on this 1993 Plymouth van, I can only find the fuse for the abs light on the dash, and when i pull it all of the dash lights go out....is there more fuses somewhere else?

Try bleading the brakes, sounds like you have in them. Than the ABS light should go out & you shouldn't have to worry about the fuses.

Fixing brakes

you have a abs fault considering the year I of the van I would remove abs fuse or unplug the moduale to disaable it. the humming that you are hearing is the abs dumping pressure due to a false reading from one of the sensors or the moduale if you want to spend the money to make the abs work you will have to take it to a shop and have them hook up a computer to retreive the codes to diagnois the problem. keep in mind that with the abs dissabled the wheels will lock up when braking hard or slick roads let me know how you make out

93 Plymouth Voyager Bendix-10 ABS failure. Chrysler will not acknowledge parts unlimited warranty for actuator piston and pump assembly per NHTSA Campaign ID Number 96V099000. What can I do?

I have had the same problem on two Chysler vans..(1993 and 1994).. the ABS brakes on these cars are the pits.. Dodge will charge you big $$$ to replace the whole unit (which will break again).. plus they don't honor LIFE TIME warranty... The solution..
Rip out the ABS..and put normal brakes in..it's not big deal and will cost about $150. You need a Brake Booster, Master Cylinder, Proportion valve and a Brake pedal... and a Saturday.. I've done it twice now.. I got all the parts (via the internet) from a junkyard in illinois (a common 'Kit" that they sell)

Had a similar problem a number of years back. Underneath the brake pedal arm is a small switch with a plunger. when you press the pedal down it moves the plunger in and engages the brake lights. when you let off it's supposed to pop back out (turning the lights back off). Possible it is getting stuck in the down position and could need to be replaced. very easy to install and only about an 8 dollar fix.

My ABS light came on, what does that mean?

No need to worry, If you need to wait a while to get it fixed it won't make your van unsafe to drive. What more than likely happened is one of your ABS wheel sensors quit working on you. If you know someone with a Snap On Scanner with the ABS reader cartrage, you can find out wich one is not working. Untill then, you can safely drive, just keep in mind if you do slam on your brakes in the snow or ice, they will lock. It would be like driving an older vehicle without ABS. Anyway, no harm will come to you or your van because of the light on.
Hope this helps!
