Question about 1990 Ford Tempo
This loud screeching noise happens for about 4-5 seconds after I make a stop and then continue accelerating.
Example: I stop at stop light and when the light turns green and I hit the accelator, the car starts screeching loudly for about 5 seconds and then stops.
The weird thing is, it will happen for like 4 days and then for a month, it won't. And then it will have a 4 day streak again. A friend suggested a brake issue, but not only have I just gotten new brakes, it doesn't happen while i'm breaking..only afterward as i'm accelerating.
Also..the car often will not change gears and I have to park, turn it off and then restart it and it does better.
Is something wrong with the transmission or..whats happening?
The screeching noise is most likely caused by a slipping belt or pully. transmission probably needs fluid and filter changed.
