The cv is changed out as a rebuit unit. Buy axle CV Replacement at parts store. Go from there. The part will tell you what you need to do. good luck.

How long does it take time to change cv half shaft(driver side)on honda passport 1997 4 weel drive 3.2 v6 engine?

A good shop mechanic can do it in a little over an hour. Front. If your doing it for the first time it will take you half a day IF you have all the right tools.
The at home hard part is sepearting the lower control arm ball joints. The rear CV joints take longer (if so equipped) as it takes longer to move everything out of the way so you can pull it out.

Bad u-joints at front driveline and/or u-joints at axle connection from behind rotors- going into front differential. Need new u-joints at either the driveline front and back (going into differential or to Transfer case) or the Left and Right side axles going into the differential. Put Locking (or "Lock-outs) hubs on front axles... WARN brand are best... about $75 a pair and you can do it yourself, easily.

My front differential is leaking!

I cannot see it, but I am guessing that you need to replace your axle seal. To do this, you have to pull your CV shaft out. Remove the tire, remove the caliper from the top of the rotor. Using a hammer on the back, remove the rotor. Take off the spindle (axle) nut, separate the axle (CV shaft) from the hub. Replace seal. It should pop right out. Good luck!

Honda Accord 2003 - Engine and steering vibration

My 2003 honda accord was doing this too. The problem is the inner CV axle bearings. The fix is to replace both CV axles. When you choose your CV axle choose a new one not a reman, there are known problems with used CV axles. It's not a hard job. It took me 1hr to do both sides on a lift.

Cv boot covers shot. cliking when i turn.

All the major auto retailers across the country sell remanufactured axles at a very reasonable price. It is alot of work to replace cv axles, and required equipment is a compressor and 1/2" drive air gun capable of 200 foot pounds of torque to remove the axle nuts.Honda short side axle is always more involved removal of suspension components,to get room to remove the axle.
