Have the sensors adjusted.. The ABS prevents lock up and default is no lockup prevention. They won't cause lock up *** just won't prevent it. good luck.

2006 ford focus front right tire keeps locking up. can i take out the ABS system?

May not be the ABS, the ABS is meant to do the opposite, it may be that the Brake Caliper has gone bad, apparently is stays closed after releasing break pedal causing wheel to lock up.

1995 ford ranger wont come out of park

try disconnecting the rods from the ignition switch shift lever inhibitor.this is basically the mechanism which prevents you from turning the ignition switch to the 'lock' position when the shift lever is not in the 'park' position

ABS LIGHT WENT ON ON MY 2002 FORD RANGER. WHY DID IT GO ON?

The Anti-lock Brake System light comes on when there is a problem with your ABS system. It could be a speed sensor, pump, pump circuit, brake switch, or other problems. The ABS computer will store this info to retrieved at a later date. Anyone with a scan tool can do this. Most places charge for this service.

The ABS light came on the car stop for a minute after a while I cut the car back on and it started. what is a ABS and where is it located on a ford taurus 1996 car.

The "ABS" or Anti-lock Brake System is exactly that. When the brake pedal is pressed in a harsh or panic manner the "ABS" senses the tires locking up or skidding. It releases just enough brake pressure to allow the tire to rotate thereby giving control back to the driver. It allows the shortest stopping distance. The "ABS" control module will be located next to the Brake Master Cykinder in the engine compartment and attached by steel brake lines. If the "ABS" light is coming on then the system is malfunctioning and should be checked as soon as possiable.

What is abs how it function

ABS is anti-lock braking system. It is a range of four sensors which monitor the braking capability when you apply the brakes. If you are harsh and stamp on the brake pedal there is a risk of the wheels locking up and sliding (screeching from the tires).

The ABS sensors modulate the brake caliper pistons andapply and let go the brakes very quickly. This stops the tires from skidding and you will feel a pulse through the brake pedal as the hydraulic system is forced to release the pedal slightly for a fraction of a second.

As ABS stops your car from skidding it allows you to turn the steering when you are braking hard. This is good news for avoiding accidents. If you lock the wheels on a non ABS car, you continue in the direction of the wheels - unless you release the brakes and reapply quickly (same method as ABS) this is called cadence braking but when involved with a potential accident the last thing on people's minds is to release the brake pedal. Having only owned older cars, cadence braking is one method I've learned, especially from driving in the snow.

I hope this helps you and please vote for me :)

Can you change from a 14" tire to another size without changing anything else on the vehicle? I have a 1999 Ford Ranger with 225/70R 14 tires which I have found are really hard to find. Can I just get 15"...

You would need to have all 4 the same size. Cant mismatch sizes 1 or 2, will through off abs etc. If you change all 4 it will affect your speedometer. If larger tires put on you will actually be going slower than speedometer says. If you can live with being off say 2 to 5 mph, all is well.

Does an 84 ford ranger v6 have standard anti-lock brakes?

This was not standard on 84 Ford Rangers, My online history search does not show ABS on Rangers until the 90's, when it was not even standard but an option. Hope this helps.

When i brake at 50mph the vihicle shakes real bad It doesnt feel like warped rotors it feels like the abs is not working properly. Is there a quick fix like pulling the fuse for the anti lock system so i...

If your fuse box has a fuse for the ABS system, then you can pull it out and retest your vehicle. If shaking continues, have your tires and wheels properly balanced. Check tires for humps or deformations, better yet, ask if possible to borrow a couple of tires and rims (that fit your car) from someone that you know has no shaking problems and retest your vehicle. Warped rotors are the last thing to look at when problems like this arise, but are not uncommon.

Rear wheel brakes lock up

It could be a couple of things..Either you have a fluid leak and its getting on the brake pads making them grab or it could be the abs system itself.. There is a speed sensor on the rear axle which also controls the abs.. That can be changed easily and isnt too expensive.. Kip
