Question about 2002 Nissan Pathfinder

1 Answer

Brake light, oil temperature light and battery light are on

My 2002 Nissan Pathfinder has 3 red lights on, the BRAKE light, oil temperature and Battery light. what does that mean? I have a Nissan pickup with a very similar problem: For me, these 3 warning lights started to come on intermittently when running above 2500 RPM. Now they are on almost all the time steady. I tested the voltage while these warning lights were lit and got 14+ volts across the battery which should mean the alternator (probably only 2 years old) is working just fine. So far the truck runs seemingly fine in spite of the warning lights. Any other ideas of what could be causing these 3 "false positives"?

Check bulbs. If the fuse was out none of the 3 would work. Either a bulb or wiring issue.

I have having trouble disconnecting the brake light switch from wire harness on my Nissan Pathfinder 2001

Does it say 'emergency brake' or just 'brake'? If it just says brake, you could be low on brake fluid on your 2001 Nissan Xterra.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The incorrect battery was installed , the alternator is defective or the wiring connected to the alternator and battery cables are defective (corrosion and looseness)

Brake light, oil temperature light and battery light are on

Wow, 3 problems, did the lights come on one at a time or all at once? How long has each been on? 1st thing is to check fluid levels-brake, & oil. You may damage the vehicle if you continue to drive it. The brake light means a malfunction in the system, or low brake fluid. If the level is low, adding should turn the light off. You then need to check to see where the system is leaking. Oil temp light, or is it just oil light? This will go on when you basically have no oil in the engine, or the oil pump has failed, both very bad. Battery light indicates the vehicle is not charging the battery. Check the drive belt, did it break? This could cause a bunch of lights to go on. Let me know the answers to the above, so I can help to refine my answer.

Brake and battery light don't turn off.

1. Your battery is not charging appropriately (the alternator has gone bad)

2. Top up your brake oil or have your brake system checked.

But be sure to take the car for diagnostic scan too.

92 Nissan Pathfinder brake lights stuck on

Change the brake light switch on the brake pedal arm. Go down to the parts store and ask for a new brake liight switch for your Pathfinder and look up under the dash where the brake pedal arm goes and you will see the switch. You will need to unplug the wires to your old one and disconnect it and install the new one the same way. It is pretty much self adjusting once the brake pedal is released. If the brake light does not go out adjust the switch pin to be longer so it will depress when the pedal is released
