Go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register the vehicle (By VIN). Afterward you'lll have access to manuals, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, etc.
Good Luck.

Manual trasmission won't go into reverse

Try putting it into reverse before you start the engine and see if that works. If it does not you need to next check the engine mounts. If they break the engine and trans can shift causing problems with the linkage not working properly. If all that is ok pull the transmission drain plug-it should be magnetic-and look for metal pcs which nwould indicate an internal problem.

I assume you have owned this car for a while and now how to get into reverse. this problem may be due to worn shifter or bushings to linkage for ****** or shifter, and last may be an internal trans problem. you will need to do some checking . have some one help you as you move the shifter and look for play in the shifter arm or linkage, good day.

1999 Saturn sl with shifting problems first gear and reverse

Ms Derry ,I would check the pair of shift cables and shifter itself before suspecting internal transmission problems. The cables attach to the shifter then runs to the linkage on the transmission. One cable is responsible for side to side movement as the other is for moving front to back(like 1st to second) Center console removal is fairly simple which requires mounting screw(4) removal on the front sides and in the rear cup holder. This gives you an opportunity to view the shifter and cable operation from above while this movement should also be appreciated at the transmission linkage meaning someone shifts the vehicle as another inspects proper movement at the transmission. If all this is actuating properly, you may need to tear down and inspect transmission but hopefully it can be rectified with external repairs mentioned...good luck

Gar wont go in reverse or drive...just the shifter

Sounds like lack of automatic transmission fluid. Other possibilities are the linkage is broken from the shift to the transmission or a bad shift solenoid.. I'd certainly check the fluid before doing anything else. Hope this helps.

When i try and back up my RX 300 wont go in reverse

does the lever nbot go physically into the position,or does it indicate but not move?check the linkage at the transmission.i would put the unit on a hoist ,disconnect the linkage at the transmission, then move it and see if the gears work.if they do,there is a shift lever/linkage problem.
