Hyundai Elantra 2000-Power Windows Won't Work

I just got a Hyundai Elantra 2000 from a private seller. The two- back windows will not roll up or down, and the locks on the doors don't work. In fact, one of the door handles is missing. When I press the button for the window I can hear it trying to go up, but the window just won't budge. AC works but doesn't get cold, a mechanic recommended Free-On and we tried it, but noticed there was a leak because all of the free-on just came right out of the car and landed on the ground. I could go on and on what's wrong with this car, like steering wheel rumbling when you go over 40 MPH, or wheels sounding like they have a flat when you go over 60. I've even noticed a burning rubber smell when you make a sharp turn and the wheels making a strange squeeking noise when you turn.

The owner only gave me a key for the car, and the key only turns on the ignition, won't open the trunk or the doors.

Feeling pretty bummed right now and stupid. It was a rushed decision to get this car bcause we really needed one ASAP.

Thanks for any advice!

You want to fix it yourself?... go to http://www.hmaservice.com/ and register (vehicle by VIN). Afterward, you'll have access to manuals, wiring diagrams, service bulletins, etc.
Good Luck!

The rear passenger window will not roll up.

Soundls like your window motor went bad. Could also be window regulator or just a bad wiring conection. Take off door pannel and check the connections and the motor. Hope that helps

Back windows wont roll down

i first check to see if you have a master power control switch at the driver side switches. If so, is it set to block? Also try pressing on and off a few times( maybe bad /corroded contacts inside the switch} . try the switch at each window{replace as necessary} there will be CIRCUIT BREAKERS not fuses you can check, also maybe window relays ,BURNT wiring, bad main switch,{master window} the last thing i would check is the motors themselves, doubt they would both be burned out!!! You should have some type of guarantee from a car lot or dealer. If private seller, then go to a reliable trans shop and have them change the trans filter and fluid. Its not good to have oil there, but it is not caustic and a trans shop should do ya.

Power window for elantra

Hello, I see you are having a problem rolling your back windows up or down. The wire you are speaking of is actually a cable. Once it comes or becomes loose there is no repairing the window regulators. These regulators are unrepairable. You are very lucky if your windows are staying up because when they usually break your window will fall. Thank you
