Should just have to unbolt the 3 or 4 bolts holding it in the spindle. No special tools are required. You should be able to get to them with a wrench if you have to. Plus you do have to undo the nut holding the axle in.

Change front brakesensor saab 9-5

Step 1 - First, you must locate the malfunctioning wheel sensor. This is done by using a scan tool or multi-meter. Plug in an ABS scan tool and follow the prompts to retrieve the trouble code associated with a failed wheel speed sensor.

Step 2 - If a scan tool is not available you can use a voltage multi meter. Disconnect the wiring connector at each wheel. Next attach the meter leads to each of the ABS connector terminals that lead to the wheel sensor being tested.

Step 3 - Once the failed wheel sensor has being discovered remove the sensor mounting bolts, or remove the tire and bearing hub. (Some ABS wheel sensors are intergraded into the wheel bearing hub)

Step 4 - Next, Inspect the sensor stator ring to confirm that there is no damage existing to the ring. If the ring shows signs or damage replacement is required.

Step 5 - Then, reinstall the new sensor or wheel bearing hub and reassemble.

Step 6 - Reconnect the electrical connector.
Once the new sensor is installed the system should run tests confirming is operating normally. At this point the warning light will go out. Some systems might require a ABS scan tool to reset the system, but this not typical.

How technical is it to replace a front wheel bearing on a 2005 Pontiac SV6 and can I do it without any specialized tools

you will need a big socket (20 or 21 mm) and 1/2 inch drive to remove axle nut and torque wrench to reinstall. The book DOES call for a special tool to get the hub off the axle, but I have never used one before.

Removal & Installation

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the wheel.
  3. Remove the wheel drive shaft nut.
  4. Remove the brake caliper and wire aside.
  5. Remove the brake rotor.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the wheel speed sensor.
  7. Remove the wheel speed sensor connector from the bracket by depressing the locking tabs.
  8. Remove the 3 hub and bearing assembly bolts.
  9. Install Wheel Hub Removal tool J-42129 to the hub and bearing assembly in order to remove the hub and bearing assembly from the wheel drive shaft.
  10. Remove the hub and bearing assembly from the steering knuckle.

To install:
  1. Install the hub and bearing assembly to the steering knuckle.
  2. Install the 3 hub and bearing assembly bolts and tighten to 85 ft. lbs. (115 Nm).
  3. Install the wheel speed sensor connector into the bracket until the locking tabs click into place.
  4. Connect the electrical connector to the wheel speed sensor.
  5. Install the axle nut to the wheel drive shaft and hand tighten.
  6. Install the brake rotor.
  7. Use a screw driver or similar tool to stop the rotation of the brake rotor.
  8. Tighten the wheel drive shaft nut to 159 ft. lbs. (215 Nm).
  9. Install the brake caliper.
  10. Install the tire and wheel.

Speed sensor..is this a very expensive job

It shouldn't be, it's just screwed into the side of the transmission.
There is also wheel speed sensors, those are for the abs brakes and mounted behind each wheel.

How do i change wheel speed sensor on a 2001 pontiac grand am se

well if it is the front wheel speed sensor it is part of the hub bearing and that hub unit will have to be replaced as one unit.

first raise the vechile and support it with jack stands. remove the wheel that has the bad wheel speed sensor.

then remove the brake caliper and mounting bracket.

remove the brake rotor.

remove the axle nut from axle.

unplug wheel speed sensor wire harness and bracket.

un bolt the three 15mm bolts on the back side of the spindle for the hub bearing unit mounting.

after everything is un bolted you will need to soak the mating surface of the hub to spindle with wd-40.

take a hammer and cold chisel between the mating surface of hub and spindle. work your self around the mating surface of the hub.

depending how corroded it is the sensor part of the hub unit may stay stuck in the spindle and if that happens use hammer and chisel to remove it.

clean the inner surface of the spindle where the hub sits and re install in the reverse procedure.

if you have any more question please ask i will be glad to help. good luck
