The check engine light turns on and stays on when driving around the speed of 65mph but when the car is turned off the engine light shuts off until driving at that speed again..i KNOW its is not the gas cap being to loose....and i am 1700 miles away from home with only enough money to get my self back what could be the problem and would i be able to make it back home The check engine light just came on as I was coming home from work. It was not on when I went to work. I do not know what it could be. I do not have a manual since I bought it used. Help please.

Well take it to an AutoZone or other auto parts dealer and have the codes read. AutoZone reads them for free generally, other places aren't free usually. My guess is that you have a transmission problem and that what ever gear is being used at that speed is throwing some kind of error. From the codes given, we should be able to figure out what is wrong. Either post the code here or the shop that you have them read at will be able to tell you what they mean. Sorry for the bad news so far.

Likely a gearbox issue.
Check condition of gearbox oil. If dark red or brownish in colour, then replace oil. Remove gearbox sump and replace oil filter. When replacing filter look for metal particles in oil
Retry.

If no success, or if finding large degree of chaff in gearbox sump, then likely a gearbox failure.

Code po705 mazda protege lx shaking rough start

The Code you refer to is P0705 Transmission Range Sensor Circuit malfunction (PRNDL Input). It is a possiblility that because this code is present, this sensor is malfunctioning. If it is malfunctioning, that means the engine needs to "guess" the value that this sensor is responsible for. In most cases when this happens, the engine will go for a value that ensures the car runs. The engine will not try to run smooth or efficently, it will only try to run. It is my guess that if you have the sensor checked and replaced, the problem might be fixed. Please let me know if this answers your question and please rate my response. Thank you

Bad idle, no takeoff

Was the replacement MAP sensor new original or aftermarket, or used maybe? How is the reading of the O2 sensor? STFT and LTFT at idle and driving? Try testing the EGR or just plug the EGR port and try it if any improvement. It is asking for serious diagnostic work.

Keep it under 65mph!
Go to the nearest auto parts store and ask them to check it with a code reader. Advanced Auto Parts will usually do this for free!

2003 Mazda Protege car is shaking When Drive and Engine light stay On

I bet it also feels like it wants to stall as well. I think my car was at around 65k and it did the same. It is the spark plugs and the coil. My mistake was going to the dealership where they charge you too much. Any experienced mechanic can do it. Changing the coil is also in the manual.
