No dash lights or dimmer control after installing a stereo system

I dont know if its a fluke or what, but the dash lights for speedometer and tach dont work, checked fuses, bulbs behind cluster, all good. now there is a green wire I didnt use on stereo plug in. I really dont think that has anything to do with it due to the fact I believe one of the power wires going to the stereo is for the lights, and the dimmer switch controls that wire I think. I have no wiring diagram on this unit. Im trying to get it repaired for my daughter,so she can see what speed she is going at night. Please help I have a similiar problem. I have had aftermarket cd players in before. I recently put one in and didn't realize it (because it was light out) that my dash lights are out. I pulled the radio out, and completely unplugged it. Still doesn't work. I also have another problem now. When it's like out, and just the daytime running lights are on, everything works fine. When the regular lights kick on, or if I manually turn on my lights, the right blinker blinks fast. I changed all the bulbs and still no success. When the lights are on if I press the break, the reverse lights turn on. It's very annoying. All fuses have been checked and turned out fine. Please help me..I can't see how fast I'm going without turning on the dome light.

Do not hook up the Dimmer wire from the aftermarket stereo! This can cause electrical issues such as a switch or worse to go out.

Check out the Dimmer Switch Assembly - it may be faulty or there may be a short. I had a simular problem - resolved by replacing.

Lights or fuse for my speed odemeter guage and heater/air conditioning system

These lights for the dash are controlled by a rheostat instrument control dimmer switch next to the main light switch for the headlights, it is either turned off (have seen this dozens of times) or it is defective. Below is a picture of the switch assembly I speak of. The thumb wheel next to the knob is the dimmer control.

I hooked up an after market stereo and now my speedometer lights don't work. Know why? On my 01 echo.

the bulb could have been bad, yet the aftermarket stereo wiring takes voltage from your dash, hence the illumination/dimmer. really dont need those wires. they hook up to your dash lighting, and draw power from your dash, take those wires out and see if any changes. Id first take the wires out, if no change then the bulbs are probably bad.

Your dash lites are on with headlamps off? I'd check the wiring for headlamp switch/dimmer. Not only check the fuses, check the fuse circuit for voltage, use a test lite. You could use a jumper to bypass dimmer, see if dash lites work.

Speedometer gauge/climate control lights dont work

Look for a dimmer wire,, sounds like your radio dont have the option for the car dimmer switch,,

the power for these lights run through the dimmer wire for the radio. ether its not hooked up or the radio dont have the option for it.

there is a way to bypass the radio dimmer option,, BUT you have to know what your doing or you could fry something.

look for Car Radio Illumination/dimmer Wire: should be Green.

New radio installed - now dash lights don't work

Most factory stereos are wired to the dash dimmer switch. Usually if the dash lights go out after an after market stereo installation, it is because the wire that originally went to the factory stereo is not used for after market stereos. Double check the fuses and ensure the wire that controlled the lights on the factory stereo is not grounding out on something.
