Question about 2000 Dodge Stratus
My 2000 dodge stratus misses or hesitates when going up a hill. i have to let off the gas and press it again. sometimes the check engine light flashes when i'm going up a hill and this happens. I've even been at a stop sign and when i pressed the gas to go i had to let off the gas and then press it again in order to get it to go. it just misses a little until i do. I also sometimes smell a sickly sweet smell when i get in to start it first thing in the morning, thouh only in the winter. I haven't smelled it since it got warm out. I'm not sure if this is connected to my problem or if it may be causing my problem. Some have suggested it may be my heater core.
Heater core is a possibility, and monitoring your coolant level closely should tell you if it is leaking as level will go down. As far as hesitation goes, if check engine light comes on, a trip to autozone or Pep boys for a free trouble code scan, should point everyone in right direction rather than replacing parts by guessing. (much cheaper that way too)
