Question about 2002 Dodge Neon

2002 Dodge Neon wont start when warmed up

I finally got my neighbors car to start everytime when it is cool, but it will not even try to start once the engine is warmed up. I've been told that the starter was replaced and so was the battery. We know that it's not thet battery because once the car cools again it will start, (and it is not overheating)

The starter is most likely bad and needs to be replaced, either the solenoid or motor are binding when it heats up and the parts expand,I can't pinpoint the exact cause because you haven't indicated if you hear the solenoid click wwhen you try to start it warm.I realize the starter has been replaced, but with a remanufactured unit they are not tested when they are warm and a bad unit will pass and be rebuilt.

Sounds like you have a bad ign. module. When the engine is cold moisture causes the miss and when the engine warms the module shorts out all together.

The heater is not working

Jamiem is correct. If you have recently done work on your coolant system you will need to bleed the system.
While the engine is cool, remove the radiator cap and start the engine. (do not do this with a hot engine!) As the engine warms up, the coolant level should drop twice. Each time it drops fill the coolant up again in the radiator. Once the engine has warmed up and your radiator is full shut it off and let it cool down. Replace the cap, let it warm up again and test the heat again.

Other things to check if this does not fix it is the heater control valve, the fuses (as mentioned, though I think you'd know if your blower motor wasn't working) and finally and hopefully not, the heater core itself.

During winter time, my Toyota Camry '96 takes too long for the heat to warm up the interior but when it finally starts to warm up, it sure does not feel hot enough. Any suggestions what to do o h

i would say it is the the thermostat. it makes the engine heat up to i am pretty sure 195 degrees at a fairly quick rate then opens to cool the engine once to running temperature and opens and closes as needed to keep temperature at the manufactures setting. some get stuck open so they never truly heat up.

I' ve just got my driver license, and I don' know anything about cars, My car is '99 chevy escort. Do I need to warm up the car everytime I drive? Some people say "Yes" somepeople say...

There is no need to warm the car up these days. With newer engines and lighter oils the engine will start circulating the oil before you even get a chance to put the car in drive. Don't waist your time or gas by idling. In older engines it was necessary. It use to be that the engine would have to warm the oil up before it full circulated through the engine, thus if you drove it before it warmed up you would cause damage to the bearings in the engine due to lack of lubrication.

98 Beetle needs to "warm up" before moving.. stalls while driving

I would start by scanning the car, your Audi friend should be able to help, being that they are basically the same car. If nothing appears then start looking at wire harnesses and grounds, VW uses brown wires for it's grounds very common to have a bad engine ground to mess you up. Good luck.

'96 Chevy Tahoe won't start

i had similar problem. hard to start in morning but once started, would start everytime until next morning. i changed fuel pump, filter, fuel pressure regulator, coil, cap, rotor, pickup coil, battery. i was finally told the '96 had a recall on the fuel injection assemby. i changed that out with the new mpf system and it solved the problem. runs like a striped ape. hope this helps.
