have not check rear brakes, but would that cause the steering wheel to shake, car rides really smooth till you apply brakes, especially at high speeds 40-50mph, at lower speeds 10-20mph there is no shake or brake pulsating. thanks for your help

What about rear brakes, have those been checked out? sometimes even a drum can warp, it could also be an imbalaced tire, maybe even an untrue rim. normally bouncing comes from an imbalance somewhere.

Yes in that case i would go have the rear brakes checked out, turn the drums or rotors wichever application the vehicle is equiped with, i would imagine that it is the brakes although you had the front ones serviced.

    GOOD LUCK

Have both checked or inspected, but the front is the one that will cause shake. Most tire shops will do this for free, the test drive thayt is.

How do I stop brakes shuddering

If you are referring to the Brake Pulsating or Steering Wheel shaking when applying the brakes - that is more than likely warped rotors. Which may be that you are due for brake system maintenance/repair.
Usually that happens about when the pads are worn out. It will need the rotors turned or replaced and probably brake pads replaced also. With Disc Brakes front and rear you may be able to view the thickness of the lining on the pads through the openings on the wheels - depending on which wheels you have
NOTE: The cost of new rotors may be very close to the cost of turning your old ones - check this possibility - if so - buy new :)

What makes it shakes

Sounds like bad brake pulsation, meaning warped rotors. When rotors are warped , they push the caliper piston in and out ,causing the brake pedal to pulsate and shake the steering wheel. I would start with replacing the front pads and rotors, and if you have drum brakes in the rear, have those cleaned and adjusted for a more balanced braking system.

Toyota corolla 2008 gli model steering wheel shakes when brakes applied at 50kph or above

Most likely cause is warped rotor pulsations that display in this way. Next, I would check tire balance. If rotors have been turned before, this makes them more prone to warpage due to less metal mass to disapate heat cause by friction of pad against rotor surface.

Newly installed brake rotors and pads. balanced wheels, but still shakes when brakes are applied. I can also feel the shaking on the steering wheel when driving on rough road.

Apply the emergency brake slightly while driving to see if the rear brakes are the issue. Other wise the rotors are warped or there is debris behind the rotor to hub surface

Well even though you had the rotors turned, they still could be warped and causing the car to shake at a high rate of speed when the brakes are applied. My suggestion is to replace the rotors asap.
