Which engine, 4 o 6cyl?
the engine has a Toyota Name/number.
1ZZ-FE & 2ZZ-GE Engines 1.8L????
1.5 (1497) 5E-FE

2.2L 5S-FE
3.0 (2995) 1mz-FE

(the E on end means EFI, electronic, fuel injection)
all usa cars gas have this in 1999.
each engine has Unique spark systems.
COPS. , and wasted or non wasted park coil packs.
my wild guess, is V6 with a 3 coil coil pack (wasted)
right? cuz cops dont mix. (well, most)

see rockauto
see the eight engines there.
which one.?
http://www.rockauto.com/

i looked at the 1.8L and it has coil pack
and is marked on the end, 1,4,3,2 in clear test on coil pack
is yours?
this is a nippon Denso coil (1.8L only)

If Biggy1 has described it right, I think when you remove the WIRE to the spark plug ( not the plug itself ) and oil jumps out, there is a cylindrical seal that needs replacing and one does not need to even remove the cylinder head.
I have the same problem with my corolla. On the other hand if Biggy meant when removing the SPARK PLUG oil was on the contacts....

SOURCE: spark plug replacement

The recommended milage is 60k miles for the plugs.I wouldn't wory about anything else except.Keep a clean air filter change the oil when required and check the trans fluid as it likes to discolor easy.So a simple drain and refill often helps. It is like a oil change they have a drain plug on the pan (very nice). It takes about four quarts of fluid and the dipstick will tell you what type of fuid to use it is stamped on the metal by the level marks.Good luck Thanks for using Fix Ya

SOURCE: Where are the spark plugs

The spark plugs are actually along the top side of the engine. They do not have external wires like some vehicles. First remove the dust cover. Next, there are 4 hex screws along the top of the head that reatin the spark plug casings. Remove these screws and twist out the spark plug connectors and change the plugs as normal. You will need a small flat head screw driver to undo the retaining clip for the electical connections. Be sure to use pre-spaced iridium plugs. you will need to remove the few bolts that hold down the cover for the wires to get to cylinders 3 and 4. 1 and 2 are okay to do without removing this, but remember to change the whole set of plugs. It is an east task.

SOURCE: need to replace the spark plugs

The top of the engine has a cover remove to see ignition coils. Remove wires then coils, plugs are under coils. This is called coil on plug system. Make sure engine is over night cold before you do this, aluminum heads are easy to pull threads when they are hot. Always replace with OEM plug cheap plugs burn out coils !!!
