Saab 900s lacks power and shakes

I need to know how to test a 95 saab 900se v6 coil pack im having missfires on some cylinders and others are pulsing fast and some at a slower steady rate . I have seen this by using a timing light to the plug wires. (car acts like its running out of gas) I cannot find this info on the web thx paul I have a 91 saab 900s. The pinion in the diferential went out so I replaced it. When I put the whole thing together it was working great. I brought it back home to wash the motor but when I was done it was sputering(it lacks power). I changed the spark plugs and it got a little better but it still has the problem.It revs up but when it comes back down to about 1.5k rpm it does it again. At times the rpm goes down to about .7k rpm but it still satays on.Nothing is wet it has been 5 days since I washed it.

You need to change all of your wires, there may be one or two of them gone bad. "Check it at nite to see wich one is sparking fire from the wires"..

No you will need exactly the same engine as is in the car now.

Try putting anything else in the car and you will run into some very expensive problems.

Both Auto Zone and Advance Auto carry the plugs you need for your Saab....you can check on-line for the store nearest you...if they don't have them in stock they can order them for you and you can usually get them the same day. I have never had a problem ordering plugs for my 1997 Saab 900S nor for the 1997 Saab 9000 and 1999 Saab 900SE that I work on for friends.....hope this helps.

my 1995 saab 900s actually has the code written on the casing of the radio once you pull it out

hey i dont know if u already solved ur problem but i was having the same problem with mine so i went and bought this solution called risoline, compresion repair. when i changed my oil i poured that stuff in first and then the oil. with in a day it stoped the clicking/knocking noise. hope this helps

The secondary (high voltage) side of the ignition coil can be checked with an ohmmeter.
1. Label and disconnect spark plug wires from coil pack.
2. Connect an accurate ohmmeter between terminals 1 and 6 and take reading. Repeat for terminals 3 and 4 and for terminals 2 and 5.

Note the readings and compare the three


If no faults are found with the supply voltage, impulse signal, wiring, and resistance at coil, then the ignition coil pack should be replaced.
