Question about 2004 Ford Explorer

1 Answer

04 Ford Explorer won't start

Worked fine, then couple hours later went to leave and it wouldn't start. It is completely dead, not even a click sound. Radio and lights work fine though. Someone told me to replace the starter and I did, but it still doesn't work. Then I was told it was the ignition switch, I replaced that and nothing. I tried jumping it with a jumpbox and with cables, still nothing. I switched batteries, that didn't work. I had someone test the two wires to the starter, one is good, the other one isn't connecting. Where do I go from here?

sounds like the solenoid or the relay that locks the lever into park when the key is turned off may be playing up just to check try using the spare key see if you get the same problem hope this helps regards mick

92 Toyota 4runner truck was running perfectly fine Later in the day went to start and the alarm just started going off and wouldn't turn off. Truck won't start even with keys turned in igniti

The alarm system somehow got activated , this is usually because the battery becomes discharged or disconnected try doing this:
Remove the key from the ignition
disconnect the negative battery terminal
put the key back in and turn to ON
exit the truck and leave door open
reconnect the battery terminal
get in and leave door open, if the alarm horn stays off it should start.

My explorer won't start, It was dead, I charged the battery. got a clicking noise. the battery died again, charged it and let it sit for a couple hours, went to try again, didn't even have to...

if the batter has a drain the starter may be at fault the starter can drain a battery with out running i would unhook the battery cables then charge the battery then i would have the starter tested.

2001 Ford 4 door was runningg great turned off went inside an hour later tried to start and it wouldn't turn over, also can't shift automatic in neutral. Tried to jump start thought it was dead...

I'm thinking its the battery. Heat kills batteries. You said it wont jump start. That's a dead ringer for a bad battery. It may have enough juice to power some things, but wont run the starter, or the fuel pump, or the ignition(spark). Try a new battery and let me know!

I replaced the battery (brand new) in my 1990 Ford Taurus. The car started instantly and a few hours later I had to move it and it started perfectly again. When I went to drive it a few days later it was...

Fusable Links corroded,leaving at least
one circuit open

Start at the battery on the wired side, and work
your way along until you find the links,if have
no diagrams to use

Check, remove and clean all ground wires under hood
