Engine VW POLO (NOT GOLF) 1.2 E 2003 - ECU diagnostics indicated check back relay fault this has been replaced but although car turns over it still won't start. Unfortunately haven't got access to diagnostic software now. Any suggestions, apart from taking advantage of the scrappage allowance, welcome.

First of all not sure what you mean by back realy!
Is there a engine check light on!
if not check there is ignitiion spark. oldschool way is to take a spark plug out and earth it while its still attached to the ht lead or coil plug and turn engine over and look for spark. No spark check coli pack resitance.and cank angle sensor. Check fuel by listening for fuel pump working when ignitiion key is turned. but better to use fuel pressure tester if avalible.smell and look at spark plugs for unburnt fuel which would indicate no spark but fuel. Put it this way as long as there is fuel, spark and a fully charged battery it should try and start. take one of these away and you got proplems

What does the glow lamp warning indicator on a 2003 VW Polo mean?

It may mean a glow plug fault or a brake light switch fault. You need computer software to interrogate the engine management.

I have a 2006 vw golf 1.4. The exhaust fault light has come on and using a diagnostic machine i have found that fan relay no1 is faulty. Can anyone tell me where this is so i can replace it?

The fan has nothing to do with the fault for the exhaust. Please see a dealer on this, you need a VW approved live data scanner to check this out.

Vw golf mk5 airbag fault wires cut under seat reconnected does it require fault reset

You can reset the Airbag ECU only using VAG or similar diagnostic equipment connected to the data link connector of the car, even you had repaired first fault wires cut under seat! After all faults erasing from the Airbag ECU the airbag warning light will turn OFF.

My VW Polo 2001 air bag sign is on all the time. Is the car safe to drive and can I take it to any auto electrician as the vw people are so expensive even for a service

music to my ears,YOU take your car to a VW dealer to get it on the diagnosic machine,THEN you take it to your favourite mech to work on it.the diagnostic computer only gives codes,it dont tell you whats wrong,so get a written report done.i am a fully qualified tech and i get my own done this way,as its cheaper.........(mickey mouse diagnostic computers only give codes NOT itemised faults)

Overheating Polo

this sounds like a thermostat fault, but also could be the sensor switch to the radiator but is more likely the thermostat, it should be located at the front top of engine, follow the top water hose to the engine and you will find the thermostat housing, also just a heads up, these had a problem when first made, according to the known fixes and problems with VW's the hoses corroded inside and started loosing water, this could be wise to get the system presure checked to...hope this helps

I took my vw polo car R registed to a mechanic to get mot. He told me one of the sensor is not working and that i must take it to a vw service centre whereby a special instrument will be used to detect the...

No need to go to VW, most garages have the ability to read live data. From your fault description it could be the water sensor for the ECU located where the top hose meets the engine, a 4 wire sensor, cheap to replace at around £10, deffinitely worth a punt.
Where in UK are you, I will see if I can help further.

I'm not sure about the Polo but on the Golf it's on the bottom of the dashboard directly in front of the driver's left knee.
