Well yes. You are right, 100%. Let me clairify, because their is no spring action on the tensioner, I need a method of getting the belt back on. Can I use the power steering pump? I can't quite figure out how to use it that way. Thank you for your time, it is greatly apprecitated. :o)

The reason you can't find the tensioner pulley is because you do not have one...The power steering pump is used to tension the belt. loosen it up and slide it. (some have an adjustment screw underneath to adjust.)

What you are looking at is likely the idler pulley. that dosen't move. all adjustment is made from the PS pump.

Im assuming you're talking about the hose attached to your water pump correct? if so, make sure the clamp is tight enough. if it is tight then you might have a bad hose and will have to replace it.

Need to know how to adjust serpentine belt, please show diagram. 6 cyl engine.

Really don't need a diagram. Loosen the slide bolts on the power steering pump. loosen or tighten the pump by turning the jack screw (long transverse bolt) under the pump. Once the belt is tightened up, lock down the slide bolts and you are finished.

Drive belt came off pulley loose on 2007 jeep grand laredo

The center pully is the IDLER PULLEY.
It is also referred to as the TENSIONER.

It has a coiled spring that creates the belt tension. Replace it ($15) (and the belt) ($8).

Hope this helps!

The tensioner won't release on my jeep

If your tensioner will not release pressure then you will require a new tensioner. These units do loose the ability to apply proper tension and they fatigue over time. Also, make sure that the belt you have is the proper length.

How to install serpantine belt on a 1995 Jeep Cherokee 6-cylinder

Hi there. Here is a Step by Step guide that will help you replace your serpentine belt.

Step1 Find the belt tensionermag-glass_10x10.gif pulley. The tensioner pulley is generally between the crankshaft and a component toward the top of the hood area. Step2 Check the belt routing so you know how to replace the belt. You may be able to find a belt routing diagram on a decal on the fan shroud or in support documentation. Otherwise, make you own sketch for reference. Step3 Rotate the belt tensioner pulley, using the wrench, to and relieve tension on the belt. Step4 Slip off the old belt and slowly release the tensioner pulley. Step5 Use your belt routing diagram to put the new belt onto all of the pulleys. Pay close attention to the water pumpmag-glass_10x10.gif pulley, as incorrect routing can cause the water pump to run backwards and overheat. Step6 Make sure the belt is correctly routed and seated on all pulleys. Rotate the tensioner again to allow for the belt to slip onto all pulleys and then release the tensioner again to regain correct tension on the belt.

Please rate and god bless.

The belt keeps coming off the fan

the only reason for the belt coming off the pulley is the something in the belt path is off aligment.
put the belt back on and chek the path where the belt pass. water pump, alternator, AC compressor, Power steeling unit, etc....... or even the pulley tensioner itself.
chance are there is a belt in the wrong pully slot.
