Question about 1990 Ford F150
I just took over my dads ford, I dont have a problem shifting but I need to change the oil on the tranny. How do I start? what must I purchase besides the oil? what steps must I take... thank you for your time and attention..
If it's manuel you just need the oil, there is a fill hole and a drain hole on the side of the transmission. If it's an automatic, there is an transmission filter that need to be changed if it's been there long enough.
The cheaper way to change the transmission fluid is to have a transmission shop flush it out with a transmission flush system that connects to the high pressure side transmission line and it replaces the old oil with new one and check the transmission line pressure too. This re places 15 liters of fluid. The more expensive is if you just drop the transmission pan and change the oil and filter you only replace about 3 liters in total and if you don't mind the mess you can do it your self for around $50.00 for the filter, gasket and Transmission oil.
Good luck and keep me posted.
Keep me posted and good luck, be glad to help.
