It has to be checked by the service center by raising the vehicle and removing the bolts as in replacing the transmission fluid. This was on the 97-99's. They have gone back to dipsticks but unfortunately we are stuck with the service center.

YES you can do it!! Be careful not to overfill but do as follows to check the fluid. As you don't have an ATF dipstick, you will have two plugs facing down on the trans pan. The plug higher up on the pan is the fill/level check (stamped/recessed into the rear right corner of pan). ATF should just drip from this plug on a hot, idling truck, in neutral on a flat surface. The lower one is the drain. The one at the back of the pan in a recess is the filler. You need a squirt pump or something like one to fill it with the engine running.

How do you check the transmimission oil fluid on my 1998 isuzu rodeo

If you find no dip stick you need to raise it off the ground preferably on a lift and check the side plug on the transaxle, open it locate the level should be slightly dripping out of the hole when opened, that is full.
If its a standard shift use 80 w gear oil, if its automatic use dextronll transmission fluid.
Have fun.

What kind of transmission fluid do you put in a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo?

hello. I recommend Mobil 1 transmission Fluid. Since you do not have a dip stick on this model, Isuzu recommends that you let the service center do this work but; YES you can do it!! Be careful not to overfill but do as follows to check the fluid. As you don?t have an ATF dipstick, you will have two plugs facing down on the trans pan. The plug higher up on the pan is the fill/level check (stamped/recessed into the rear right corner of pan). ATF should just drip from this plug on a hot, idling truck, in neutral on a flat surface. I am unable to locate the dip stick for my transmission. I have a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo LSE. Where is it located?

Auto Trans.and manual Rodeo has no dipstick. Fluid levels must be checked from underneath the vehicle on a lift at the shop. It can only be filled from underneath the vehicle as well.

If you're looking for the tranny dip stick. There isn't one. the tranny fluid must be checked from the over flow plug. there is a tool to use, but only dealers have this.

I cannot find where to put the transmission fluid in my 1999 Isuzu Rodeo. There is not an area on top to put more fluid, let alone check the fluid.

I have a 1995 rodeo with an automatic. the fluid level is measured on the dipstick, which is next to the oil dip stick on the v-6 anyway. you add fluid by removing a plug unedr the vehicle mounted up near the center of the transmission.
